Job Purpose and Impact

The Production Superintendent provides strategic leadership for the salt production process at the Cargill Salt Akron facility, including the brine field, multiple effect forcedcirculation evaporation systems, steam generation, and salt processing operations. The role ensures safe, reliable, and efficient performance of all production assets while maintaining strong fiscal management and quality compliance. It leads and develops the departmental salary and engineering team and drives continuous improvement in equipment reliability, operational discipline, and capital project execution.

Key Accountabilities

  • Ensures employee, food and feed safety and environmental compliance program standards and goals are implemented.
  • Accountable for all internal and external operating and regulatory procedures on employee, food and feed safety including strategic and tactical execution in alignment with corporate environment, health and safety and food safety, quality and regulatory functions as well as government regulations.
  • Establish and deploy operational priorities for the Akron plant.
  • Leads strategic and tactical operations and quality management deliverables to ensure customer, product and quality standard requirements are met within specifications.
  • Leads, directs, and controls capital and operating budgets for the Akron plant to achieve medium term outlook financial performance objectives set by the business.
  • Ensure and hold direct reports accountable for meeting and controlling operating expenses and established targets.
  • Oversee the overall operational management and implement operational efficiency improvements which may include standardization of plant information manufacturing systems, quality control, safety, production reliability excellence and maintenance and operators best practices.
  • Lead and develop a team, coach, and make decisions related to talent management, hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions.
  • Oversees UIC compliance and brine well field management, ensuring all well operations meet regulatory requirements while developing longterm plans for well field integrity, resource stewardship, and mineral rights optimization
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience
  • Ability to travel up to 5%
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Lean six sigma
  • Fours years of department leadership experience
  • Experience managing a multi-million dollar operating budget
  • Background in contractor management and project execution
  • Experience with communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to lead crossfunctional teams.


Additional Details

• Location: OH-Akron; Relocation support may be provided
• Schedule is day shift. There are also some events that might need to work on the weekends and on-call.
