Position Summary: Oversees regional swine wean-finish production as directed by the Director of Wean-Finish Production, ensuring execution of swine production in accordance with budgets, protocols, and procedures established by management. The oversight scope is for 400,000+ spaces consisting of contract growers, leased, and owned sites, some with employee labor. Position performance will generally take place in the swine facilities with additional time in the office for meetings and ancillary team communication.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Assess and ensure all biosecurity, animal welfare, and production standard operating procedures and protocols are implemented and being executed by direct reports and Passel Farms Growers including information reporting and accuracy.
- Oversee and manage direct reports. This includes payroll management, periodic performance reviews, scheduling assistance, continuing education and training, conflict resolution and other associated supervisory duties.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining relationships with Contract Growers.
- Liaison between Contract Growers and Passel Farms employees, providing communication to both parties as needed. Monitors pertinent site data, reviewing reports and assembly of improvement action plans.
- Assists Business Development team with initial space management and new space requests.
- Evaluates facility, equipment and machinery for repair, maintenance, and capital improvement needs, working closely with asset managers and direct staff training.
- Provide technical direction for animal production and transportation.
- Provide periodic correspondence to owners on site performance.
- Identify and communicate process improvement opportunities.
- Conduct regular farm visits, complete all pertinent paperwork, and follow-up with appropriate parties as needed.
- Assist when needed regarding the internal and external pig movements including weaned pigs, feeder pigs, and market hogs.
- Responsible for carrying out the biosecurity program as presented by company veterinarians including site, vehicle, and personnel programs.
- Performs diagnostic work where necessary and appropriate with the ability to train others collaborating with Passel Farms nutritionists and approved veterinarians.
- Maintain a veterinarian/client/patient relationship with the company’s veterinarians and adhere to their guidelines with regards to herd health and improvement. Provide necessary assistance to direct reports regarding proper medication applications to provide the best health for herd.
- Trains and reviews marketing performance and projection submission of wean-to-finish team members
- Take an active role in the safety program, which includes following safety procedures, policies, and continued training.
- Assist in compliance with all applicable State and Federal environmental laws and regulations.

Experience:
Five years or more of supervisory experience in a livestock field with some college or technical schooling preferred. Bilingual abilities are a plus.
Working Conditions: Duty performance is almost exclusively in a hog confinement in rural areas. Hours of work are generally scheduled around good livestock husbandry needs as well as during regular business hours. This position requires the ability to respond to animals’ needs and does include occasional evening hours, weekend hours, and holiday hours. There will be some variation in work hours due to animal care and health, weather, employee shift schedules, special projects, and other concerns. The position will involve 50+ hours per week with travel time and the possibility of some overnight stays. Noise levels may require hearing protection in some areas.
