Job Description:

Orchard Robotics is a Series A startup backed by top VCs like Quiet Capital, Shine Capital, and General Catalyst. We're securing America’s food supply by building the AI farmer that automates our nation’s farms. We've raised over $25M in pursuit of our mission to help farmers farm more profitably and sustainably than ever before.

What We Do:
We start by collecting the most valuable data for farmers, telling them everything about what is growing on their millions of trees and vines, across thousands of acres of farmland. We do this using advanced camera systems we build, that take pictures of every one of the billions of fruit in a farm. This data lives in our cloud data platform, FruitScope, that we've developed from the ground up to help farmers manage their crops with precision.

The Role:
Are you passionate about technology and eager to help farmers succeed? Join us as our first Field Operations Technician in Northern CA.

In this role, you'll help our growers discover and implement the value of our cutting-edge technology, while ensuring an exceptional customer experience. You’ll collaborate with our sales team to conduct on-site demos, training, and customer support. You'll also work with our engineering team, to deploy, test, and validate our cutting-edge AI-powered camera system that analyzes the quality and yield of fruit across farms.

Your work with our growers will be critical to ensuring top performance of our camera systems, while listening to our customers and relaying important feedback as we continue to develop our technology.

If you enjoy the thrill of working outdoors, helping growers succeed with our technology, and scaling operations beyond conventional limits, this is for you.

About the role:

  • This is a full-time, hourly, seasonal role spanning approximately 9 months during the growing season.
  • For high performers, there is the opportunity for conversion to a full-time, year-round position.
  • Comprehensive health, vision, and dental coverage provided, with 100% of the premium paid for by the company.
  • We’re deeply motivated by the impact we’re making – every new system deployed means much less food that goes to waste, and many more people who are fed.

What you’ll do:

  • Serve as the primary person for customer inquiries, requests, and support needs.
  • Provide hands-on support, troubleshooting, and training for our FruitScope vision systems.
  • Regularly drive 1-3 hours to customer farms to conduct customer training and tech implementations.
  • Conduct on-farm demos for prospective customers.
  • Regularly engage with customers to ensure ongoing satisfaction, and relay customer insights, requests, and suggestions back to our engineering teams.
  • Work with our technical team to go over results and figure out how to make our products even better.

What We Look For:

  • Comfortable driving 1-3 hours daily to our customer farms and engaging directly with growers in-person.
  • You are able to lift 20 lbs to set up our camera systems, drive an ATV around the farms, and complete a variety of field tasks such as gathering ground truth data by measuring counts and sizes of fruit in fields.
  • Customer-first mindset.
  • Proactive, loves to problem-solve & tackle new challenges.
  • Highly responsive & reliable in addressing customer needs.
  • Self-starter capable of working independently & managing your own schedule.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Background in agriculture.
  • Valid driver's license AND reliable personal vehicle for frequent travel to customer farms.
  • Previous experience in customer-facing roles (especially in agriculture or ag-tech).
  • Proficiency with digital tools such as Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets), Slack, and CRM systems like HubSpot.
  • Flexibility to occasionally work irregular hours to align with growers' schedules.
