We are excited to announce an opportunity for a dynamic and strategic Director of Operations to lead and enhance our organization’s operational activities within the agriculture sector in Guelph. As part of this newly established leadership role, you will provide vision, innovation, and strategic direction to drive operational excellence while ensuring alignment with our organization’s mission, values and long-term goals.
The Director of Operations will oversee a senior management team and staff, ensuring that daily operations adapt to the evolving needs of our customers in a rapidly changing marketplace. Additionally, they will foster strong, collaborative relationship with industry partners to support and drive organizational success.
Key Responsibilities:
• Assist the Executive Director in developing and implementing policies, which allow for effective operation of the organization within the parameters of the strategic and operating objectives.
• Create and oversee the development of the annual operations plan, including budgetary requirements. Ensure the development and maintenance of accurate, effective budgets, with a focus on implementing strong financial controls and providing thorough reporting throughout the year.
• Identify, assess and mitigate operational risks while developing and maintaining contingency plans to ensure business continuity.
• Provide strong leadership, maintaining consistency and accountability to ensure the smooth execution of day-to-day operational activities.
• Motivate and develop a senior management team, promoting collaboration to achieve shared goals and ensure efficient, high-quality outcomes.
• Coordinate and oversee external program teams for new projects that require specialised expertise ensuring successful collaboration and execution.
• Oversee all aspects of human resources in alignment with company policies and procedures, including recruitment and selection, salary administration, training and development, performance management and succession planning.
Education
• Completion of post-secondary education in Business Administration, Operations Management, Agriculture or equivalent.
Experience
• 10+ years leadership experience in a relevant industry, and hands-on experience in the agriculture business sector considered a strong asset.
• Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Strong understanding of business operations and financial management skills.
• Knowledge of Human Resources management best practices.
