This position reports directly to the Production General Supervisor and supervises 6 Production Operators in the operation of the Sulfuric Acid department. What you will do:
Lead the safe operation of the sulfuric acid plants, water treatment facilities, Turbo generator, and DPW wells
Plan, direct, coordinate, and execute daily activities based on standard operating procedures, safety practices, maintenance schedules, and shift instructions
Ensure safe and efficient operation of sulfuric acid equipment
Monitor the progress of daily activities, deal with any identified obstacles that limit the productivity of the crew, conduct site visits to ensure that all assigned work is performed in a safe manner, and provide direct supervision of the Sulfuric Acid operating crew during the shift
Track employee progression and development, and support employees with training and coaching
Track and encourage the skill development and training progress of the crew and will work directly with the employees and ensure that the company’s safety, environmental, and business objectives are met
Coordinate employee cross training to ensure operators are able to operate all equipment in the sulfuric department
Conduct crew meetings, and ensure utilization of job hazard analysis and structured pause
Conduct in field contacts and audits to ensure proper use of safety equipment and procedures
Assist safety team with project submittals and housekeeping audits
Follow up on safety and environmental concerns
Communicate company goals, policies, and procedures
Ensure environmental parameters are being properly monitored
Optimize sulfuric production, power production, and minimize downtime
Constantly look for ways to improve the sulfuric acid operation
Coordinate acid, steam, and power production with consuming departments
Ensure work orders are prepared and submitted properly
Represent Nutrien through community participation and in local activities
Establish annual goals from which performance will be determined
What you will bring:
High School diploma or equivalent
5 years’ experience at this site, a minimum of competent rating on last performance appraisal and better-than-average attendance record
Thorough knowledge of the operation of the Sulfuric Acid Plants, Water Treatment Plants, Turbogenerator, Steam System, DPW System, 007 Outfall, Ambient Air Monitor, Elementary Neutralization Facility, and Honeywell Systems
Ability to supervise personnel efficiently and in a manner to produce top quality products within Nutrien and EPA regulations
Must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing to all levels
Must be able to analyze problems, develop solutions, and to plan work effectively
Bachelors Degree in related field with 6 plus years of relevant work experience, is preferred
