What you will do: The Anhydrous Hydrogen Fluoride (AHF) Operator is responsible for maintaining continuous production of the AHF Plant by monitoring the Control System to ensure production goals are met while maintaining the highest quality acid production during a 12-hour shift. These activities are essential to safe, cost effective operations and require strict attention to details to operate the AHF plant to meet its internal and external customer needs.
The Operator position requires strong cognitive skills as well as personal skills to manage the production process to achieve the daily acid production goals. Duties include but are not limited to completing daily activities, PSM reporting, conducting periodic inspections, maintaining, and operating equipment and systems in a safe and environmentally responsible manner for the purpose of processing the highest quality acid product available to the market. Operator must be compliant with the Process Safety Management System at all times.
The Operator is in constant contact with other departments during a 12-hour shift and should possess the ability to communicate with others while focusing on the primary task of producing a high-quality acid productThe Operator is responsible for work outcomes of the assigned areaThis position requires constant attention-to-detail of the daily production process to prevent upsets during normal production and may require immediate action to prevent loss of life or environmental disasters or production lossesCommunicate, relate, receive, and otherwise obtain information from all relevant sources for the purpose of producing AHF is very important to the daily activities of the Operator; the importance of the information received and relayed could have an impact on production and qualityEvaluate information to determine compliance and standards is a key responsibility of the Operator and includes following Standard Operation Procedures, Safety, and Environmental Procedures, Work Rules, instructions, and daily production activitiesThe Operator will spend time monitoring the Control System to ensure quality acid production is achieved while maintaining contact with all production areas and support operators by using the company phone and radio systems1/3 of time spent is related to the primary task of acid production by reviewing and monitoring acid parameters1/3 of the time spent on activities relating to following SOP’s to ensure proper shutdown and startup of production systemsApproximately 5% of time spent in conducting on-site inspections of the Acid production plant and work vicinity, inspections to the production components such as, pumps, pond levels, and support equipmentConducts procedures during a 12-hour shift by following the outlined SOP’s covering specifics related to the daily operation of Plant processingMaintains safety standards, environmental standards, and product quality standards by monitoring the Control Screens to ensure proper parameters (such as Temperature, Pressure, and Flow) are maintainedMonitors and operates the Control System by viewing numerous computer screens to ensure the maximum production of quality productMonitors air pressure for plant and instrumentation by ensuring the correct operation of plant air compressorsWorks safely to prevent on-the-job injuries by following, observing and enforcing Nutrien, OSHA, DOT, and MARSEC guidelinesMonitors all tank levels to ensure proper flows and balances by utilizing Control System trends to maximize productionMonitors the process vent system by ensuring the correct operation of the chillers, stack temperatures, and pressures of the vent system are maintained for maximum productionAssists in plant pre-startup by ensuring all manual valves are aligned, utilities are available, and environmental compliances are met before activating startup proceduresAssists in the coordination of post shutdown procedures by monitoring all tank levels, instrument readings, environmental compliance concerns, and proper valve alignmentMonitors HF leak detection systemPerforms start-up procedures by selecting and monitoring the start sequence ensuring each component is operating correctly, and documentation is completedPerforms the shut-down procedures of the plant by selecting and monitoring shut-down sequenceHelps to ensure that laboratory data quality specifications are maintained by using the Quality Control Management System to review specifications and parametersRecords detailed information related to upset conditions by describing the circumstances of the situation and documenting corrective actions taken in the Operators’ daily logFollows down day work list to ensure all items are completed and safety procedures are observed during down day maintenanceSubmits Lock Out/Tag Out permits for work to be performed and follows all safety proceduresMonitors storage tank levels containing AHF by periodically verifying tank levels are adequate and ready for loadingTroubleshoots work-related problems by isolating the cause of the problem and taking corrective action to correct the problemEnsures mid-night logs and daily reports are generated and data is entered on report sheets then forwards results to StatisticianMaintains communications with Quality Control Laboratory by monitoring, comparing, and prioritizing product samples to maximize productionContacts security in the event of deluge system failure by calling security and filling out log to document that the plant deluge system had been disabled and reasons for trippingCommunicates with key individuals regarding need of repairs to equipment by entering work orders into the EAM system using priorit
