Troubleshoot, repair, install and maintain the following types of equipment:
Level – Displacers, head pressure, capacitance, radar, non-contact
D/P Cell Applications – Level, Flow, Pressure
Positioners & I/Ps
Transducers
Flow Meters – Vortex, Mass Flow, Turbine, Thermal Dispersion
Analytical - pH, conductivity, ORP, Mass Spectrometry, CEM’s Gas Chromatography
Temperature – Thermocouples, RTDs, Gas Filled Bulb
Switches – Limit, Flow, Level, Temperature
Up to 4160 volt motors, electrical controls and equipment
Solve problems requiring the knowledge of basic electronics, DCS, electricity, pneumatics, mechanical, math, and physics
Disassemble, repair, and assemble control valves
Review maintenance manuals, manufacturer’s catalogs, blueprints, and other references for specification and performance information
Utilize test and measurement equipment in troubleshooting of instrumentation, electrical or control loop problems to locate the cause(s) of trouble
Apply requirements of NFPA 70E as it applies to all electrical hazards and understanding of the use of PPE to mitigate those hazards
What you will bring:
Associates Degree or Technical Degree preferred
Minimum of 1 -5 years of experience in chemical plant or refinery preferred
ISA Certification(s) is preferred
Effective computer skills, knowledge, and ability to utilize standard Microsoft applications and understand directory structures and file types
Know, understand, and apply safety standards and safe working practices and procedures
Use safety equipment provided to avoid personal injury, injury to others, or damage to equipment
Read, understand, and follow written instructions and procedures including interconnecting wiring diagrams, interlock, logic, one-line diagrams, motor, starter, control panel schematics, and P&ID drawings
Working knowledge in troubleshooting mechanical or electrical failures in process instrumentation, control loops, motor controls, and able to recommend and perform corrective measures
Familiarity with instrumentation transmission signal types, including pneumatic, analog, discrete, and digital
Knowledge of DCS configuration is preferred
Working knowledge of the requirements of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and how to install instrumentation and electrical equipment and conduit systems to meet these
Particular Awareness concerning installations in areas that are classified as Electrically Hazardous
Proficiency in the use of reading and understanding installation details
Ability to use specialized tools to install and bend tubing and fittings required for installing pneumatic signal or sensing lines
Strong organizational, problem-solving and communication skills
Ability to provide 24-hour callout response to support plant needs
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
