What you will do:
  • Ensure all assigned projects, work and work activity meet Nutrien, site, applicable code and regulatory requirements for Safety, Health and Environmental
  • Execute projects in a manner the meets the premises for cost, delivery and function/production/quality. Liaison with Maintenance, Operations and other stakeholders, both internal and external to White Springs and Nutrien.
  • Coordinate the work of internal and external resources, identifying and qualifying these resources as needed
  • Lead control systems hardware and software maintenance efforts by providing policy and direction to Control Specialists
  • Coordinate licensing, software images, configuration databases, data historian, and site wide configuration standards
  • Track systems metrics and collaboratively work with operations to correct declining utilization or effectiveness trends
  • Train Control Specialists on best practices in maintenance, configuration, and operation of control system hardware and software
  • Train operators in use of control strategies
  • Provide expert troubleshooting services to Operations and I&E Maintenance departments
  • Leads by example by setting high standards for effective use of control system strategies
  • Advocate for effective use of process information in identifying process opportunities
  • Provide data analysis tools and methodology to stakeholders to facilitate effective decision making
  • Proactively identify opportunities for enhanced safety, environmental, and economic performance
  • Design and implement basic, advanced regulatory, supervisory, and advanced process control strategies to capture identified opportunities
  • Serve as a technical and engineering resource across White Springs for project and non-project related activities, keeping skills, knowledge and abilities current with continual learning and education. Coordinate best practice activities with related facilities
  • Advance systems BOM order, specifying components, specifying Panel material, writing systems BOMs and writing panel BOM, directing and Assisting with installation, debugging with no additional support
  • Systems administration of OT Platform of Process Controls Systems
  • Act as control system and strategies subject matter expert in site-wide Management of Change and PHA programs
What you will bring:
  • Bachelor/Bachelor of Science Engineering degree from an ABET accredited engineering program, preferably in the Electrical discipline
  • Previous Process Control and Systems Engineering experience in a mining or chemical, heavy industry work environment
  • Minimum 5 year combined professional experience in computer-based Process Control within heavy industry or 4-year degree in Systems, Electrical or Industrial Automation Technology
  • High functional level of Electrical, Instrumentation and technical ability
  • Thorough understanding of technical codes and standards, potentially in multiple disciplines, as in typical use at Nutrien – White Springs. Examples are ASME, API, ISA, NEC and NFPA
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computer software including Microsoft Office programs, SQL databases, and various control system configuration packages
  • Direct experience with Siemens APACS, RSLogix, PlantPax and Wonderware is a plus
  • Experience with plant-based control system improvements from daily maintenance to system-wide upgrades and migration
  • System Architecture design and maintenance including Networking, Switching, non-standard system applications and control panel controls
  • Review specifications and standard practices – inclusive of the internal hardwired and logic standards, general specifications and scope of work
  • Experience in providing Design requirements which include establishing legacy, non-standard designs, generating system map layouts, generating a sequence of operations, reviewing cycle time, studies and dimension switch layouts, generation of design packages, design logic, enter logic, and the design of Smart Displays
  • Ability to work independently and in a team atmosphere
  • Professional, clear and concise communication skills; both written and verbal
