What you will do:
Work with the Senior Director, Tax Planning & Execution to develop, quantify, communicate and implement tax planning strategiesWork with the Senior Director, Tax Planning & Execution to review existing and planned business operations and transactions to optimize tax impactsWork with the Senior Director, Tax Planning & Execution to develop and execute an effective global tax M&A and due diligence strategy to support Nutrien corporate business developmentSupport Nutrien’s success through developing and delivering effective and practical tax planning solutions that align with business objectives and appropriately manage global tax riskDevelop models, prepare diagrams and compile PowerPoint presentations to advance tax planning initiatives within NutrienWork with the US federal tax compliance team to manage and minimize BEAT, GILTI and Subpart FAssist with appeals and litigation for federal, international and state controversy mattersIdentify and implement US federal and international tax planning initiativesLiaise with various internal stakeholders to ensure that tax consequences are considered along with major business initiativesResearch and stay well-informed of US tax trends and legislative and policy changesDevelop responsive actions and communicate with impacted stakeholdersBuild and maintain successful relationships with all relevant internal and external stakeholders including Nutrien treasury, legal, finance & accounting teams, outside advisors, external auditors, governmental tax auditors, and tax associationsDirect and supervise external tax professional service providers to deliver necessary income tax adviceWork effectively with peers within Nutrien tax Center of Excellence to collaborate on strategic tax planning projects and ensure accurate tax reporting of significant transactions
What you will bring:
CPA designation with a Master of Tax or LLB and LLMA minimum of 10 years’ experience practicing US tax in either a global organization or a reputable Tax Consulting Firm supporting global organizationsA minimum of 5 years’ experience in a predominantly tax planning or M&A role within a global organization or a reputable Tax Consulting Firm supporting global organizationsIn-depth knowledge of US federal and international tax legislation and policyWorking knowledge of state tax considered an assetWorking knowledge of foreign tax legislation, including Canada, Australia and Brazil considered an assetWorking knowledge of tax provisions considered an assetWorking knowledge of transfer pricing considered an assetStrong business orientation/business acumen and keen analytical skillsExcellent critical thinking skills and strong attention to detail and processesDemonstrated ability to take ownership of complex projects, hit milestones, effectively work with cross functional teams and deliver on deadlines all while being organizedAble to analyze tax laws, regulations, treaties, etc. in order to extract the right information to make informed recommendationsDemonstrated ability to develop manage and maintain complex, multi-variable models to finalize decisions supported by dataHard working, quick learner with a positive attitude
