Job Description:

The North Peace Applied Research Association (NPARA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing innovative agricultural research and extension services to the Peace Region. We work closely with local producers to advance sustainable, regenerative, economical farming practices and deliver impactful knowledge and technology transfer events.

Location: Manning, Alberta
Duration: May to August (flexible start and end dates)
Hours: Full-time (35.7 hours per week)
Salary: $18-20/hour, based on experience. Flexibility for time off; overtime hours can be banked and used as time in lieu.

 

Position Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Summer Intern to support our Manager. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in event planning, social media management, communications, and community engagement within the agricultural sector.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and organizing agricultural events, workshops, and field days.
  • Collect testimonials from producers and event attendees.
  • Help design promotional and advertising materials for events and initiatives.
  • Create knowledge & technology transfer materials such as newsletters, fact sheets, field books, reports and more.
  • Capture high-quality photos and videos during events and field activities.
  • Manage NPARA’s website and social media platforms, including creating engaging content.
  • Provide administrative support to the Manager as needed.

 

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a post-secondary program in communications, marketing, or related field, farm or research experience would be considered an asset.
  • Degree, Diploma or student in agriculture, plant science, soil science, agronomy or related field, with relevant or related experience with communications, marketing, or social media would also be considered.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to share knowledge in a professional and effective manner.
  • Experience with social media platforms and content creation.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to work with others
  • Proficiency in photography and/or videography.
  • Extremely organized and detail oriented.
  • Highly motivated and individually driven
  • Interest in agriculture and community engagement.
  • Driven to share field research with various stakeholders (producers, agri-business, government, and academia)
  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident of Canada
  • Drivers license valid in Alberta
