Selling Yourself in an Interview
The interview process can be intimidating, but with a little preparation, you can ace the interview and get the job. Following are a few quick tips and a link to our online video to learn more.
Practice. Stand in front of the mirror and practice answering interview questions. Pay special attention to behavioral based interview questions.
Research the company. Review information about the company’s products and customers. Read recent news stories about the company.
Be early. Arrive 10-15 minutes before the time of your interview. This also allows a little leeway in case you get caught in traffic or go to the wrong building.
“Tell me a little about yourself.” This is typically the first question you will be asked in an interview. Be ready to answer with a one to two minute response on your background, skills, relevant job accomplishments, and why you would be a good for this position.
Have questions to ask the interviewer. Be prepared with a list of questions you would like answered about the company or position.
Send a thank you. Write a thank you note and send it to the interviewer thanking them for their time and sharing why you are the right fit for the position.
