POSITION: Agriculture Instructor - Farm Management

LOCATION: NDSCS - Wahpeton, North Dakota 

TYPE OF APPOINTMENT: Full-time, 9-month, benefited position

JOB SUMMARY

Primary instructional responsibilities would consist of teaching the Farm Management Courses which include computerized record keeping, risk management and insurance, commodity marketing, ag finance, and others. Other duties include curriculum development and revision, student advisement, assisting with student organization activities, student recruitment, committee participation, assessment of student learning, and related departmental and college responsibilities. Summer employment opportunities may be available based on institutional needs, funding availability, and program requirements. Participation in summer activities - such as land lab projects, student internship support, or course delivery - is considered separately from the academic year contract. 

Minimum Requirements

• Must support the mission, vision, and values of NDSCS.
• Bachelor's degree in an agriculture related field with the ability to obtain a master's degree within 5 years.
• Demonstrated competency in computerized record keeping, risk management and insurance, commodity marketing, and ag finance.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Computer and technology literate.
• Valid driver's license
• Motivated, self-directed, and able to work effectively and professionally with students and staff in a team setting.
• Ability to articulate and support the two-year postsecondary college philosophy with a commitment to teaching and learning in a two-year college setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in a related Agriculture field.
• Successful college or secondary teaching experience in Farm Management or related areas.
• Career experience in an economics related field.
• Demonstrated competency in other agriculture topics such as animal science, agriculture sales, agriculture mechanics, farming/ranching experience, etc.
• Holds current North Dakota Department of Career and Technical Education Certification.
