Job Purpose: Responsible for the success, growth, development, and profitability of the company. Achieves objectives by managing staff, organizing and accomplishing business goals, and promoting sales.
Job Duties:
1. Planning:
- Provide leadership and vision through the development of long range and annual strategic plans
- Oversee preparation of the annual business plan for the company
- Research and present proposals as needed to set standards and goals for both the short term and long term opportunities
- Evaluate opportunities for other crop types, new geographies, technologies, and potential business opportunities through new crop type endeavors.
- Work closely with R&PD team to evaluate and source new breeders and opportunities for new varieties through research and networking.
- Managing scheduled company meetings to lay out objectives and follow up on duties for each individual
- Managing a calendar of events with deadlines to keep organization of the company due to seasonal nature of activities.
2. Sales/Associate Relations:
- Work sales in designated territory to ensure proper growth and expansion of business.
- Assist associates to source foundation, registered, and certified seed
- Oversee sales and relations that are established by sales staff to ensure accuracy
- Offer support for sales staff in direction to ensure we have the correct focus and approach to each territory and crop type.
- Set sales goals for sales staff with focus on both associates and end result relations
3. HR Management:
- Recruit, train, coach, counsel, discipline, and provide staff with support needed to reach their maximum potential in their positions.
- Communicate values, strategies, objectives, and direction to staff
- Assign accountably; appraise job results and provide educational opportunities
- Board of Directors; Coordinate meetings, approve agendas, and attend scheduled meetings
- Lead by example in setting a precedent for the company image and positive work environment by setting high standards for professionalism and communication and make sure this remains coherent throughout staff
4. Financial Management:
- Oversee preparation of annual budget
- Provide vision and leadership in long range fiscal planning to ensure continues profitability of the company.
- Work with staff and associates to ensure AR remains current.
- Analyze risk/reward when looking at expenditures to ensure business funds are being spent appropriately.
5. Administration:
- Maintain oversight and insure accuracy of records including A/R, A/P, Inventory, etc.
- Assist in development of forms and tools to increase company efficiency and risk management.
- Manage Royalty reporting and collections and work with Office Manager to ensure payments are remitted on time.
- Set goals and objectives for each staff and assist each in attaining that goal.
6. Marketing and PR:
- Build company image by collaborating with customers, government, community, organizations, and employees
- Maintain quality service by establishing organization standards; enforcing ethical business practices.
- Oversee content, production, and distribution of all marketing and publicity materials with Office Manager
- Manage press development
- Collaborate with sales staff to plan a trade show schedule; attend scheduled trade shows and make sure sales staff attends scheduled shows
- Network with companies, individuals, and customers as much as possible to ensure exposure of business and create working relationships
