Our company's Research Laboratories in South San Francisco is seeking a highly motivated Scientist with experience in biochemical/cellular assay development and lead discovery support to join our Quantitative Biosciences (Pharmacology) department. The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and execution of mid/high throughput biochemical/cellular assays and mechanistic experimentation to advance early drug discovery projects. The candidate will work closely with a team of multidisciplinary quantitative scientists to enable key assays/models and studies to advance a diverse portfolio of small molecule and biologic preclinical candidates targeting cancer, fibrosis, and cardiometabolic disorders. Key responsibilities:
Develop and execute biochemical and/or cellular assays to support compound screening and lead discovery in multiple therapeutic areas (cardiometabolic, immunology, and oncology)
Properly document experimental design, findings, and assay protocols, and comply with all laboratory training and safety requirements
Ensure high-quality data generation, analysis, and timely reporting to project teams
Leverage lab automation to improve assay operation, quality, and overall productivity
Support automated compound management for various lead discovery projects
Evaluate and implement new enabling technologies and methods
Collaborate with colleagues on multi-disciplinary project teams to provide scientific/technical contributions and deliver project goals.
Education Minimum Requirements:
BS/MS in Biochemistry, Cell Biology, Pharmacology or a relevant scientific discipline, with a minimum of three (3) years of drug discovery experience in a biotech/pharmaceutical setting
Required Experience and Skills:
Relevant knowledge and expertise in biochemical and/or cellular assay development, as well as hands-on experience with compound screening and lead discovery support
Skilled in the development and execution of biochemical and/or cellular assays, using a wide range of experimental methods and detection technologies
Hands-on experience with various automated liquid handling instruments (Biomek, Bravo, Echo, etc.) and robotic systems for assay operation
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment to advance drug discovery, with excellent organization and communication skills
Prior experience with multiple therapeutic modalities (small molecule, peptide, antibody, antibody drug conjugate, etc.) is a plus
