Utilities Manager.

About the role.
The Utilities Manager will lead our critical utilities operations at our Carberry Potato Processing Plant. This role provides strategic leadership for the Powerhouse, Wastewater Treatment Plant, and Environmental and Sustainability programs on-site, ensuring safety, reliability, and regulatory compliance in all utility operations.
What you’ll be doing.
Lead safe and efficient operation of the Powerhouse with 1st Class steam generation boiler systems, ammonia refrigeration plant, compressed air, water filtration, and energy recovery systems.
Oversee the operation and compliance of the Wastewater Treatment Plant, ensuring environmental performance standards are consistently met.
Manage and develop a high-performing team of Power Engineers and utility operators, fostering strong Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), proactive maintenance, and continuous improvement.
Act as Environmental and Energy Champion, driving sustainability initiatives focused on reducing carbon emissions, energy, and water consumption in alignment with ISO 14001 standards.
Own and maintain site environmental compliance, including operating permits, reporting, and improvement projects.
Manage utility operational budgets, procurement of materials, and services while identifying opportunities for cost reduction and process optimization.
Drive capital project planning and execution for utilities, ensuring alignment with corporate engineering and long-term reliability goals.
Champion Process Safety Management (PSM) and Legionella Risk Management, promoting a strong safety culture across the plant.
Collaborate cross-functionally with production, quality, safety, engineering and maintenance teams to optimize plant-wide utility performance and support manufacturing operations.
Lead external contractors as required for utilities and environmental services.
Follow and support all food safety procedures and requirements for the site.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What you’ll need to be successful.
Mandatory: 1st Class Power Engineer Certification.
Experience: Minimum 5–10 years of supervisory experience.
Strong knowledge of:
Steam generation and distribution systems
Industrial ammonia refrigeration
Compressed air systems
Water and wastewater treatment operations
Proven leadership in environmental compliance and sustainability programs.
Track record of promoting a safety-first culture and driving proactive maintenance strategies.
Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience considered an asset.
Solid computer literacy with ability to work within maintenance management systems.

Compensation Package: $97,500.00 - $130,000.00 CAD annually + bonus eligibility
The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education/training, and other organizational needs.
