About the role.

Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in setting up, installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment, and in fabricating metal parts.
 
Accountabilities.

  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Assist workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
  • Conduct employee appraisals and evaluations. 
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate activities of individual departments. 
  • Direct workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery. 
  • Direct workers in mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic maintenance and repair of machinery and equipment. 
  • Ensure adequate staffing and training of new employees. 
  • Ensure forklift operations are in accordance with company policy. 
  • Establish daily work schedules. 
  • Implement McCain Competitive Edge and Lean Manufacturing practices relative to Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People (SQCDP). 
  • Initiate and conduct the department to reinforce Health and Safety, company policies, and otherwise impart the knowledge and information necessary for personnel to carry out their responsibilities. 
  • Interpret specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers, and assign duties. 
  • Keep workshops and other areas clean, orderly, and safe. 
  • Maintain time and production records. 
  • Perform activities of workers supervised. 
  • Provide directions to maintenance team at pre-shift meetings and is available on-site to direct, guide, and counsel employees. 
  • Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. 
  • Request of non-stock replacement parts. 
  • Schedule employee work schedules and vacations. 
  • Study production schedules and estimate worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment. 
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew. 
  • Other projects/duties as assigned or needed.
  • Supervise all personnel and activities within area of responsibility.

 
Qualifications.

Required Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.  Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • One to three years in a leadership role.

 
Required Certification, Licenses, Registration:

  • McCain Forklift Certification
  • McCain Scissor Lift Certification

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; extreme cold; extreme heat; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually very loud.

Compensation Package: $65,500.00 to $87,400.00 USD annually + bonus eligibility + Long Term Incentive eligibility


The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education/training, and other organizational needs.
