The Sr. Process Technician is responsible for the Health and Safety and Food Safety elements of setting up trial parameters as required by the trial lead. This will include moving equipment into the correct line set up, ensuring it is ready for use (i.e. sanitized and safe) and helping the trial lead run the actual trial. These trials may be on new and/or improved products for regional / global projects or may involve the testing of new technologies. The position supports global and regional projects with an emphasis on new product innovations, process improvements, cost improvements, or other work as assigned.

 

The Sr. Process Technician is also responsible for ensuring that the Pilot Plant maintains its systems. This will include all aspects of record keeping from incoming raw material information, to the use and storage of ingredients and finished goods. The Sr. Process Technician is self-motivated, works well alone or as a group. This person must be committed to safety and maintaining a winning safety culture. We strive to have a cross functional team, having the ability to work in a lab environment or on the pilot line will be a non-negotiable.

                                          

What you’ll be doing.

  • Safety leader committed to promoting and improving the PPTC safety culture and supporting the Key Elements of Safety Program
  • Quality Control for pilot line samples, following specifications as per protocol.
  • Responsible for the preparation of potato products in a lab scale simulation of the industrial production process according to strict protocols.
  • Assistance with experiments on pilot and laboratory scale production.
  • Ability to work closely with the internal PPTC research teams as well as visiting business units and other McCain customers.
  • Good communication skills as this position will involve working with external parties.
  • Maintain a neat work area, basic housekeeping.
  • Ensure that all lab equipment is in good working condition and reporting any issues to supervision
  • Able to support packaging duties
  • Able to support line studies (dryer loss, batter pick-up etc.)
  • Ability to work at flume additive station
  • Batter mixing capabilities
  • Support Sr. Process Technician with extra duties
  • Willingness to support pilot line and lab hygiene duties
  • Support lab food safety requirements i.e. swabbing, sanitizing
  • Must be able to understand and abide by H.A.C.C.P. regulations concerning sanitation and critical  control points
  • Required to attend team meetings including safety talks.
  • Maintain the PPTC high standard of Hygiene and Sanitation
  • Miscellaneous related duties may be assigned    

                                            

 

What you’ll need to be successful.

  • Experience in potato processing  an asset
  • Self motivated
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to respond to unexpected circumstances calmly and responsibly
  • Ability to accept and embrace change in the day to day operations
  • 1 year experience in QC or QA of potato products is an asset
  • Affinity to research and innovation
  • Excellent data collection and reporting skills
  • Solid computer knowledge, in particular Microsoft Office
  • Experience in potato processing is considered an asset
  • Must be willing to work varied shifts

Compensation Package: $52,600.00 - $70,200.00 . CAD annual base salary equivalency, paid in alignment to contract term 

 

The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education and training, and other organizational needs.
