About the role. 

As a key member of the Agriculture & Sustainability team, the Senior Manager Planet-Friendly Practices is responsible for advancing McCain’s sustainability journey by supporting strategy development, measuring impact and driving roadmap execution.  The role will be responsible for managing McCain’s regional sustainability reporting (both internal and external), as well as coordinating key sustainability projects by working across multiple business functions. ? 

  

This role can be based out of any of our growing regions or corporate offices across North America. The position will report to the Senior Director of Agriculture & Sustainability. 

  

What you’ll be doing. 

  • Think big and plan ahead: Support McCain’s sustainability strategy through development and execution of key projects across the four sustainability pillars.   

  • Lead a team with two direct reports, support ongoing projects, upholding the vision and mission for the department, leading monthly team meeting and allocating priorities. Be the conduit between the team and NA senior leadership. 

  • Support the regional sustainability governance to ensure objectives are being met (regional steering committees, planet-friendly ambassadors).  Bring the best in our people.  

  • Be customer-obsessed and work on commercializing sustainability. Focus on tier 1 customer requests around sustainability, identify partnerships opportunities and leverage sustainability as a key differentiation point for McCain.   

  • Serve as primary contact to respond to various stakeholder ESG requests, including customer and prospect RFPs and surveys, investors, and employees. 

  • Work alongside the data and analytics team as well as the various functions to help drive the deployment of the How Good platform across the region.  

  • Creatively share key sustainability data and drive external outreach along with our global and regional communications & corporate affairs teams.  

  • Develop sustainability skills by creating training (ex. leadership training, functional training) for McCain employees.  Act as a coach and hands-on advisor for the teams where necessary.  

  

What you will need to be successful.

  • Demonstrated experience implementing sustainability solutions across a range of topic areas including sodium reduction, packaging, decarbonization and ESG projects. Have excellent project management skills.  

  • Experience in amplifying sustainability wins internally & externally, creativity and design ability.  

  • Experience working with the How Good platform is a plus.  

  • Demonstrate a strong business acumen, communication, interpersonal, influencing and relationship building skills. 

  • Have strong technical depth, dynamic cross-functional interaction and highly effective communication skills, excels at Powerpoint. 

  

Key qualifications. 

  • 5+ years of professional experience in sustainability with a significant experience in a role that combines technical and professional experience in sustainability 

  • A Master degree with a focus in Sustainability, Environmental Sciences, Environmental Policy or related field 

  • Have a working driver license and be prepared to travel to the regions where our plants are located.

Compensation Package: $107,600.00 -$143,500.00  USD annually + bonus eligibility

  

The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education/training, and other organizational needs.
