The Sr. Health and Safety Coordinator plays a key role in fostering a positive health & safety culture within Site location. This person will have a key role in the development and execution of the health & safety and security agenda for the plant, focusing on continuous improvement of health & safety policies and procedures, injury prevention, health & safety management, Site security, crisis management, and compliance with Federal and local health & safety compliance obligations. This position focuses on implementing and overseeing effective health and safety protocols and practices within the organization. The Sr. Health and Safety Coordinator recommends process improvements to enhance workplace health & safety, provides project leadership in implementing health & safety initiatives, and oversees metrics to monitor trends and measure performance against key health & safety indicators. 

  

Accountabilities: 

  • Provides exceptional support to ensure the implementation of health and safety initiatives that align with the organization's safety culture and goals. 

  • Works closely with the Site leadership team and HR Business Partner to promote a continuous improvement mindset and foster employee engagement in health and safety practices. 

  • Conducts health & safety audits, including rack inspections, and aids in the closure of audit findings' root cause corrective actions within the required timeframes. 

  • Oversees and advises people leaders and employees on complex health and safety issues, including managing corrective action processes and attendance management. 

  • Collaborates with the leadership team to improve turnover and retention rates by implementing effective health and safety strategies. 

  • Verifies external contractors' safety training and certification(s) and carries out worksite health & safety audits. 

  • Maintain the McCain OSHA/OH&S programs to ensure adherence to company, regulatory, and any other health & safety requirements, including compliance with established 

  • procedures, documentation completion, and annual reviews. 

  • Prepares daily, weekly, and monthly reports to track safety and operational performance. Ensures timeliness and accuracy of reports. 

  • Conducts training on health & safety topics for management and staff. 

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision on projects within teams. 

  • Supports HR Specialists in handling health and safety-related issues as needed. 

  • May receive calls outside the regular working hours in the event of an accident or severe injury. 

  

Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Advanced Health & Safety Certification(s), and/or equivalent combination of qualifications and health & safety experience 

  • Professional certification, such as CSP, ASP, or an accredited Health and Safety Certification, is required or in process. 

  • At least 5-7 years of Health & Safety experience 

  • ISO Management Systems experience is preferred

  • Has a key role in Continuous Improvement activities (as required by MDI) 

  • Proficiency with Windows-based applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Experience using/implementing other specialized software/EMIS platforms (Intelex).

Compensation Package: $81,600 - $108,900  USD annually + Bonus eligibility 

  

The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education and training, and other organizational needs.
