Reliability Technician, Rice Lake, WI

About the role.
The Reliability Technician uses predictive technologies to analyze building and infrastructure systems to assess appropriate level of maintenance required and detect developing defects that lead to potential equipment failure. This individual Supports the RCM Program through PT&I systems and route development and sustainment, maintenance, maintenance plans, and other preventive maintenance tasks. The successful candidate must be self-driven with a passion to research and implement industry leading maintenance practices.
What you’ll be doing.
Report all equipment failures to appropriate supervisors in writing and verbally
Performs associated administrative tasks (failure reports, etc.) and participates in Root Cause Analysis.
Evaluate criticality of new equipment and re-evaluate older equipment.
Evaluate the criticality of parts needed for inventory for new and older equipment.
Utilizes various RCM/PdM technologies.
Make interpretations of findings, analyzes for failure, prepares report and issues
recommendation to supervisor.
Coordinates with Maintenance supervisors such activities as the scheduling and planning of inspections, obtaining the requisite permits and performing any required special audits of equipment.
Upon failures of equipment such as pumps and vessels, inspect material and assist in the preliminary failure assessments; prepare report and issue recommendations, where applicable, via supervisor for action by relevant departments.
Inspects maintenance and capital project work being carried out in the plant, to ensure that specified maintenance practices and procedures are followed for welding, installation and fabrication as per policy and in compliance with international fabrication codes and standard.
Carries out NDT on mechanical equipment and piping. Uses but is not limited to the following technologies:
Ultrasonic
Infrared thermography
Tribology
Vibration analysis
Motor current signature analysis
Further develop the lubrication program to meet or exceed vendor and auditor requirements.
Maintains facilities and equipment as well as all other inspection instruments, tools and equipment, in a clean and operational condition. Co-ordinates for planning and procuring additional instruments as required.
Assist Department supervisors and Maintenance Manager to assure departmental/individual compliance with National, State, local building/mechanical codes; safety codes, OSHA regulations; fire codes; company’s policies, procedures, and standards.
Assist in maintaining, improving productivity, and quality of work.
Promote safety, improves housekeeping, cost control, and reduces waste.
Assist in planning for the installation, inspection, maintenance and repair of plant equipment, appliances, utilities and the physical plant.
Utilize SAP computer maintenance system.
Strictly adhere to company and plant policies concerning safety, performing proper lockout/tag-out procedures, using proper lifting technique, wearing proper protective equipment related to duties.
Adhere to all company and plant policies related to GMP’s.
Perform maintenance by using hand tools, power tools, and fabricating equipment.
Perform lubrication routes of bearings, chains, gearboxes, etc.
Perform condition inspection routes to identify defects on equipment.
Perform thermography, leak detection and ultrasonic inspection routes.
Perform preventative maintenance per standard procedures.
Perform basic electrical troubleshooting, with the use of appropriate electrical measuring instruments and electrical schematics.
Perform basic hydraulic troubleshooting, including aggressive leak control, piping selection, and valve and motor operations.
Perform basic pneumatic troubleshooting, including aggressive leak control, and appropriate usage of compressed air versus low pressure air.
Perform basic welding procedures, such as straight welds, by MIG welding and/or Arc welding.
Perform basic fabrication procedures including braking and shearing.
Perform basic machining procedures including lathe set-up and milling machine set-up.
Contribute to Departmental efficiency and effectiveness by offering suggestions and specific problem-solving solutions. Assists in planning, implementation and evaluation of actions as required. Assist supervisors and mechanics in solving problems as requested.
Follows recommendations for quality improvement.
Play an active role and take membership in company Emergency Response Team.
Perform other assigned duties as directed by Maintenance Manager.
What you’ll need to be successful.
3+ years’ experience in the industrial maintenance field with working knowledge of mechanical theory, design, and functionality relating to the equipment, systems, and components throughout the factory.
Certification and/or Associate Degree in Mechanical field highly preferred.
Possess a working knowledge of the National, State, and Local mechanical, building, and electrical codes; able to understand the basics of mechanical data from blue prints, schematics, wiring and plumbing diagrams. Be familiar with other mechanical trades data found on these documents.
Knowledge of refrigeration, pneumatic and hydraulic systems, and troubleshooting techniques.
Possess a basic understanding of CMMS systems and their functions.
Possess experience in gathering electronically stored information and presenting it in a spreadsheet format.
The ability to read and interpret company policy and procedure, safety rules, equipment operation and maintenance instructions. Must have ability to prepare and write routine reports and correspondence.
