About the Team
We are currently looking for a Production Manager to join our Production Team in Wisconsin Rapids, WI.

 
About the Role
As a Production Manager, you will oversee potato production, quality, sanitation, safety, and planning functions of the Wisconsin Rapids Plant while reporting to the Senior Production Manager. This role is responsible for coordinating the efficient use of raw materials and ingredients in the production of French fries and specialty products. You will ensure that good manufacturing practices are followed by all personnel directly or indirectly involved in manufacturing and that production meets McCain’s high standards for safety, quality, and efficiency.

You will also be a key leader in promoting continuous improvement, communicating the needs of manufacturing to support departments, and ensuring operational goals align with McCain’s mission and values.

Statement of Job
Responsible for coordinating and managing potato production, quality, sanitation, safety, and planning functions of the Wisconsin Rapids Plant, while reporting to the Senior Production Manager. Duties include coordinating the efficient use of raw materials and ingredients, ensuring good manufacturing practices, communicating operational needs to support departments, and leading continuous improvement efforts.

 
Key Responsibilities

  • Review operating schedules prior to production to ensure efficient utilization of product components.
  • Assist in scheduling required crewing for processing and cleanup on all lines. Communicate schedule changes and extended downtimes to employees.
  • Evaluate specifications for new products and new equipment being tested or installed in the facility.
  • Evaluate and manage held product in collaboration with the Quality Manager and Senior Production Manager.
  • Review, react to, and coordinate customer quality audits (A.I.B., Guardian, Q.S.E.).
  • Monitor compliance with SPC systems and processes.
  • Review daily production reports to ensure accurate information for cost tracking, performance metrics, downtime, recoveries, labor, and overall facility performance.

  • Ensure implementation of corporate policies and procedures as they relate to Production, Quality, Human Resources, and Sanitation.

 
Manufacturing Operations

  • Direct manufacturing operations to meet production requirements with respect to cost, quality, and sanitation.
  • Ensure a safe work environment and drive continuous improvement in plant safety processes.
  • Maintain adherence to all corporate and external quality assurance and sanitation guidelines.
  • Lead proactive efforts to continually improve manufacturing costs and product quality.

 
Human Resources

  • Support and ensure implementation of all HR policies and requirements. Recognize and celebrate employee performance.
  • Foster a teamwork environment with open and honest communication at all levels.
  • Identify and coordinate training opportunities for department employees.
  • Provide feedback and development guidance through the performance appraisal system.

 
Continuous Improvement

  • Solicit, review, and implement process and product quality improvement ideas.
  • Develop and execute strategies for cost savings, waste reduction, and scheduling optimization.
  • Expand knowledge of potato processing operations to drive innovative improvements.

 
Leadership, Communication, and Information Management

  • Coach and lead direct reports to develop their skills and support business strategy.
  • Prepare and submit reports for Corporate Headquarters and the Plant.
  • Promote inter-departmental collaboration and cooperation.
  • Provide input for issue resolution and problem solving.
  • Appraise supervisor performance and provide development guidance.
  • Demonstrate positive leadership through effective communication, decision-making, and follow-through.

 
Scope of Authority
All employees have the right to question or refuse a work-related directive that is unsafe. All employees are expected to take appropriate measures regarding the safety of people, products, and equipment.


Additional authority includes:

  • Selecting, evaluating, and appraising hourly and salaried manufacturing personnel.
  • Rejecting raw materials (potatoes, batter, salt, sugar, SAPP, cooking oils) and consumables (shook, poly, totes, pallets, etc.).
  • Stopping and starting production as needed.
  • Draining off product for waste and overriding process procedures when required.
  • Filling in for the Senior Production Manager as necessary.

  • Required Education, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (Competencies)
  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of management experience in potato processing and packaging required.
  • Strong judgment and the ability to make sound decisions quickly.
  • Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully across departments.
  • Proven leadership ability with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.

Compensation Package: $97,500.00 - $130,000.00 . USD annually + Bonus eligibility

 

The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education and training, and other organizational needs.
