Job Description:
JOB TITLE: Stationary (Power) Engineer
DEPARTMENT: Maintenance
JOB GRADE: Dependent upon qualifications
McCain Foods (Canada) has an immediate opening for a Fulltime-Permanent Power Engineer. Under the direction of the Chief Engineer, the successful applicant will assume duties and responsibilities as provided under the Power Engineers Act and participate in key factory activities.
Responsibilities:
- Shift work required (365 days/year operation).
- Call-in’s may be required.
- Operate and troubleshoot steam systems, refrigeration systems, and ancillary equipment such as air compressors, HVACs and more.
- Assist in preventive and predictive maintenance of steam systems, refrigeration systems and ancillary equipment.
- Responsible for the completion of procedures and associated documentation for the area, including established testing and monitoring requirements.
- Maintain a neat work area / perform daily housekeeping duties.
- Provide assistance and support to the maintenance and production departments.
- Perform all additional duties as they are assigned.
- Comply with factory GMP’s, Safety, and HACCP Best Operating Procedures.
- Perform minimum of one (1) Safety Interaction per month.
- MDI tasks: Perform daily CIDs (Clean, Inspect, Detect). Perform adjustment when CL (Centrelines) are out of specification. Communicate shift highlights with the next Operator using the Shift Handover. Participate actively to Huddle Board Meetings.
Qualifications:
- Must hold a valid 3rd Class Engineer’s Certificate in compliance with the provisions of the Power Engineer’s Act of NB or hold a valid 4th Class Engineer’s Certificate and be willing to obtain a 3rd Class.
- Experience with both steam and ammonia refrigeration systems is an asset.
- Must have good computer skills (Windows operating system / Microsoft Office / email communication / Control System HMI).
- Ability to work well in a team environment.
- Experience with SAP (or other Computerized Maintenance Management System) would be an asset.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must be clean shaven.
Applicants must possess a good safety record and demonstrate “safety first” on a continual basis. Selection of employees for promotion is based upon such factors as ability, special training, experience, job performance record, attendance, physical fitness, education, length of service, and involvement in plant leadership programs. Length of service will be the determining factor when all other factors are relatively equal. An evaluation period of 6 month will be used to determine the candidate’s suitability to the position.
