JOB GRADE: Grade 10A ($35.28 to $44.00)- Dependent on Qualifications           
                                    

McCain Foods (Canada) is currently looking for an experienced tradesperson to join or Maintenance team in the role of Planner Scheduler. We are looking for a Maintenance Team Member to plan and coordinate Electrical/Mechanical jobs throughout our plant to minimize downtime and maximize overall reliability, safety and food safety.

  

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Report to the Manager of Maintenance.

  • Act as the principal contact for any work that is requested and ensure regular communication with Condition Inspection and broader Maintenance Team.

  • Key Responsibilities are purchasing, planning.

  • Responsible for the effective planning of maintenance work within the Maintenance Reliability Program.

  • Source parts, materials, and contracted services & prepare purchase requisitions as required

  • Develop and maintain a productive working relationship with Production, Maintenance peers, McCain contractors and suppliers

  • Review work requests for alignment with management objectives and accurate priority coding

  • Visit job site to deliver complete work order packages that identify:

  • Work scope

  • Time requirements

  • Trade skills needed

  •  Parts & materials needed

  • Special tool Requirements

  • Compliant Job Procedures. I.e. GMP, Safety, & HACCP Best Operating Procedures.

  • Drawings

  • Supporting documentation, manuals, etc

  • Source parts, materials, and contracted services & prepare purchase requisitions as required

  • Lead the effective completion of preventative and reactive mechanical work throughout the plant.

  • Maintain Bill of Materials (BOMs) and Standard Jobs

  • Leads the professional development of all team members and collaborates with the maintenance leadership team to build a safety and performance-oriented culture of engagement.

  • Develop and maintain a productive working relationship with Production, Maintenance peers, McCain contractors and suppliers.

  • Ensure proper resource allocation to shift and day-based maintenance teams to minimize downtime and maximize utilization.

  • Provide technical support to other crew members as required.

  • Champion of Change: accepting and promotes benefits of change.

  • Ability to acquire necessary training and further defined qualifications and responsibilities.

  • Drive continuous improvement and promote/support the MDI and MDI x AI efforts 

  • Attend and participate in MDI DDS meetings daily

  • Owner of Packaging Maintenance related MDI defects and responsible for maintaining the defect logs.

Additional duties as required:

  • Responsible for prioritizing, making detailed preparations for and organizing required work to be completed in their area of responsibility to enable successful and efficient execution of the work.

  • Review and manage notification backlog

  • Owns preventative maintenance plans

  • Convert notifications to work orders, prioritize, identify resources required and create detailed work packages

  • Identify and assign required materials (parts) and resources (equipment, special tools, contractors, team members, permits, etc..) required to complete the tasks

  • Review and act on feedback from completed work packages

  • Planned Work Orders

  •  Notification Backlog Aging

  • BOM Accuracy

  • Preventive Work

  • Standard Tasks

  • Budget Adherence

  • Work Order Review & TECO

Safety requirements:  

  • Ensure Lockout & Tag-Out procedures and all McCain Safety Policies are followed 

  • Follow and promote Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) 

  • Follow and promote HACCP Food Safety Procedures 

  • Follow and promote McCain Environmental programs 

  • Work safe and promote a safe working environment to all employees 

  • Perform Safety Talks / Attend Safety Talks 

  • Recognize safety hazards and correct them 

  • Verify employee Job Safety Plans (hazard analysis at job site)

Skills/Qualifications include:

  • Licensed Industrial electrician or Licensed Industrial mechanic with?experience in manufacturing and process industries 

  • A minimum of three years of demonstrated experience.

  • A self-motivated individual having above average organizational skills and attention to detail, with a proven track record.

  • Ability to effectively lead others.

  • Effective Verbal and Written communication skills are essential.

  • Prior experience working within SAP is a strong asset.

  • Observant and detail-minded with a natural sense of urgency. 

  

Applicants must possess a good safety record and continually demonstrate “safety first.”  Selection of employees for promotion is based upon such factors as ability, special training, experience, job performance record, attendance, ability to meet the physical demands of the position, education, length of service, and involvement in additional assignments.  Length of service will be the determining factor when all other factors are relatively equal.  Testing may be required depending on the position applied for. Interviews will be held as necessary and those selected for interviews are determined based on meeting the criteria as noted above. An evaluation period will be used to determine the candidate’s suitability for the position. Shifts are subject to change and are not guaranteed due to scheduling demands.
