Full Line Mechanic

Job Description

Job Title:            Mechanic - Production Line

Department:      Grand Falls Main Line

Reports to:         Maintenance Supervisor

Purpose: To ensure the proper operation of Line Equipment, from Potato Receiving to Palletizing as well as building maintenance.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Training requirements.

§  Must be a licensed Industrial Mechanic or be enrolled in the Industrial Mechanic apprenticeship program.

§  Welding Ticket(s) would be considered an asset.

§  The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for providing Safety, Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, Environmental, Equipment, Software, or any other training, as needed.

Safety requirements:

§  Attend Safety Talks

§  Follow Lockout / Tag-Out procedures and all McCain Safety Policies

§  Wear appropriate PPE and follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)

§  Work safe and promote a safe working environment to fellow employees

§  Complete Job Safety Plans / Recognize safety hazards and correct them

Job responsibilities:

§  Carry out duties assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor and by the Planner/Scheduler

§  Complete scheduled work and Preventive Maintenance (PM) work

§  Troubleshoot and repair equipment problems

§  Use the computerized maintenance management system (SAP) for processing work orders and preventative maintenance tasks:

Ø  Technically Complete (TECO) work orders and enter confirmation comments in SAP.

Ø  Identify equipment malfunctions and create Notifications in SAP to have issues addressed.

Ø  Create Emergency or Reactive work orders to complete unplanned jobs.

§  Maintain shop and follow good housekeeping practices (5S)

§  Complete Hot Works Permits

§  Follow McCain maintenance, HACCP and Environmental programs such as “Temporary Repairs”, “Sanitation after Maintenance”, Waste Management and Recycling (Waste Oil Disposal), etc.

§  Must be able and willing to perform shift work: 12 hrs shifts (nights/days) and/or straight days at managements discretion.

§  Must be able and willing to come in on days off during Sanitation days and Shutdowns
