JOB PURPOSE: 

  

The Materials Grader plays a critical role in ensuring that incoming potatoes are inspected, sorted, and graded according to company and industry standards. This position helps maintain high-quality output and supports the overall efficiency and safety of operations at McCain Farms. 

  

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Adhere strictly to all Company Safety Policies and Procedures. 

  • Demonstrate "Safety First" behavior in every aspect of the job. 

  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). 

  • Rapidly sort potatoes by grade, using both hands to reach, grab, and separate product. 

  • Recognize and identify product variations or off-grade items. 

  • Place sorted items into appropriate bins while working on a continuous conveyor system. 

  • Remove defective or substandard product to ensure only high-quality potatoes proceed. 

  • Take on various production tasks assigned to support daily operations. 

  • Willingly cross-train in other operational areas when required. 

  • Collaborate effectively by participating in team meetings and sharing feedback. 

  

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCES: 

  • High School Diploma or GED (preferred). 

  • Organized and capable of working both independently and as part of a team. 

  • Strong attendance record with reliability and punctuality. 

  • Excellent multi-tasking, attention to detail, and goal-oriented approach. 

  • Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 10 lbs frequently, and 25–30 lbs occasionally. 

  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written. 

  • Consistent self-motivation, initiative, positive attitude, and observant nature. 

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, adaptable work environment. 

  • Strong safety record and commitment to occupational health. 

  

OTHER INFORMATION 

  • Flexibility to work varying hours, including occasional Saturdays as production demands. 

  • Exposure to production environments requiring adherence to hygiene and cleanliness standards.
