Job Description

McCain Foods (Canada) is currently looking for Material Graders - Potato Storages to join our team. Reporting directly to the Valley Farms Manager.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12 education or GED
  • Ability to work well with storage supervision and storage employees
  • Team player with excellent attendance
  • Demonstrate continuous initiatives and involvement
  • Highly motivated, observant with good initiative and a positive attitude.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced environment adapting to and embracing change as it occurs.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must possess a good safety record and demonstrate “safety first’’ on a continual basis.
     

Responsibilities and duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for following all safety requirements.
  • Material handling of up to 25 kg.
  • Assist with cleaning and preparation of storage buildings and around equipment.
  • Assist with the timely process of storing potatoes.
  • Sorting and racking of potatoes.
  • Removal of foreign material.
  • Placement of culverts in the potato storages for ventilation.
  • Directing of farm trucks for unloading.
  • Cleaning work areas.
  • Assisting with light maintenance on equipment and storage buildings.
  • Must follow “Good Manufacturing Practices” (GMP’s) and Critical Control Points (CCP’s).
  • Follow JHA’s and work safely.
  • Working in a fast-paced team environment
  • Participate in Team meetings, as required.
  • Duties may also include collection and processing of potato samples and recording of quality information.
  • The work environment will be a combination of inside and outside activities.
  • All additional duties as they become assigned.
  • Work hours will vary depending on weather conditions but will range from 40 to 60 hours per week, weekend work may be required during peak of the harvest season.
