About the role. 

McCain Foods’ Potato Plant has an immediate opening for a Licensed Industrial Electrician to join the maintenance team. The position is responsible for setup and changeover processing equipment, perform all assigned predictive and preventive maintenance tasks, perform food safety verifications, and troubleshoot and resolve electrical/communication issues.

 

Note: This role works 12 hour shifts on a 4 on, 4 off rotation, which includes 2 days, 2 nights and then 4 days off.

 

What you’ll be doing.

  • Correct and prevent any electrical (and mechanical) problems, especially where there is a safety or food safety risk.
  • Must work closely with production to keep line running with minimal downtime.
  • Must comply with safe practices prior to working on any equipment (e.g., Lockout procedure, barricading areas, safe handling of materials, etc.).
  • Verbally communicate identified Emergency/Urgent repair problems effectively.
  • Comply and promote food safety (Good Manufacturing Practices and HACCP).
  • Must report all food safety risks or safety problems.
  • Identifying, detecting and documenting all potential maintenance repair problems.
     

 

What you’ll need to be successful.

  • Must be a fully Licensed Industrial or Construction Electrician (Journeyperson who has graduated from an accredited apprenticeship program) and may consider apprentices.
  • Experience in manufacturing and process industries would be an asset.
  • PLC troubleshooting experience (Rockwell/Allen Bradley).
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented, with good organizing and coordinating skills.
  • Observant and detail-minded with a natural sense of urgency.
  • Effective Verbal and Written communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

Compensation Package:  -  Starting at35.28 CAD hourly + Bonus eligibility + Hourly Pay Differential for applicable shifts
