About the role.

The Health and Safety Coordinator is required to assist in the development and execution of the safety andsecurity protocols for the plant, focusing on continuous improvement of safety policies and procedures, injuryprevention, safety management, plant security, crisis management, and compliance with all applicablefederal/state/provincial safety regulations. Duties include managing safety programs, conducting complexsafety inspections, developing safety policies, and training employees on safety procedures. The primaryresponsibilities of this role include those mentioned above. However, additional duties may be assigned toassist the Safety Manager in ensuring compliance with the state, provincial, and federal occupational safetyregulatory requirements. Assist the Safety Manager in evaluating the site environment to meet employees’ergonomic needs and noise level compliance, and procedures are implemented to meet the Company'ssafety requirements and regulatory standards. Conducts safety audits and ensures proper corrective actionis taken.
 

What you’ll be doing. 

  • Ensure adherence to all relevant federal, state, provincial, municipal, and company safety rules andregulations.
  • Conduct regular Key Elements of Safety (KES) inspections of equipment and facilities and serve as aresource for employee safety committees in collaboration with the Safety Manager and/or Regional Safety.
  • Conduct safety audits and support the site leadership team in closing audit findings' root cause correctiveaction and other assessment findings within the required timeframe.
  • Analyze safety interaction data, incident, and injury trends to identify areas for training improvements,behavioral changes, or other operational and workflow enhancement opportunities.
  • Assist supervisors in investigating workplace incidents and devising action plans to prevent a recurrence.
  • Audit the contractor management program to ensure contractors' safety training, safe work plans, andinsurance requirements are met and permits are completed.
  • Maintain McCain safety program and/or any Local required program to ensure adherence to company,regulatory, and/or customer food safety requirements, including compliance with established procedures,documentation completion, and annual reviews.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports to track safety and operational performance.
  • Conduct training on, Health and Safety for management and staff.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with minimal supervision on projects within teams.
  • May receive calls outside the regular working hours in the event of an accident or severe injury.

  

What you’ll need to be successful. 

  • The ability to work with and influence others to cultivate a positive safety culture.
  • Able to create written safety procedures such as Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Lock Out procedures, SafetyPolicies, and Standard Work.
  • The ability to deal with and develop a plan in an ambiguous environment is key.
  • Experience in training and facilitating is a plus.
  • Strong oral communication. Able to speak clearly and persuasively in positive and negative situations.Listens and gets clarification. Responds appropriately to questions. Participate in meetings. Able to talk tolarge groups of people and provide practical training.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of qualification and experience
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.
  • Experience developing and facilitating training programs and protocol.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Professional safety certification is desired.

Compensation Package: $58,800.00 - $78,500.00 CAD annually + bonus eligibility
 
The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education/training, and other organizational needs.
