About the role.

We are seeking a Potato Processing Technology Centre Intern for a four-month work term starting in May 2026. In this role, you’ll collaborate on front-end innovation projects focused on processing methods, emerging technologies, and novel ingredients. You’ll gain hands-on experience exploring early-stage concepts and understanding how they translate into future product opportunities. This internship offers exposure to cross-functional teams and mentorship from experts driving innovation in food processing and technology.

 

This position will be based in our Florenceville, New Brunswick location, with the expectation of working onsite/in-office five days a week.

 

What you’ll be doing.

  • Assist with innovation, trials, and ongoing product improvement activities within the laboratory.
  • Collaborate with various teams within the facility and department and facilitate pilot runs.
  • Ensure smooth coordination between the pilot facility’s operational needs and ongoing product trials.
  • Contribute to advanced technical initiatives including research and experimental projects.
  • Provide expertise to support the successful execution of the ATI team’s strategic projects.
  • Experience hands-on laboratory work, including experimentation and pilot trials.
  • Dedicate time to office-based tasks such as documentation, analysis, and reporting.
  • Drive front end innovation by researching, evaluating, and implementing emerging technologies and processes that enhance product or process performance.
  • Utilize technology platform-based tools and systems to efficiently collect, analyze, and share experimental data, fostering collaboration across cross-functional teams.
     

 

What you’ll need to be successful.

  • College Junior/Senior majoring in Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering or a closely related discipline
  • Laboratory experience
  • A passion for learning
  • A love of food!
  • Ability to effectively manage tight timelines and prioritize tasks in an agile environment; flexibly handling additional tasks as assigned.
  • Self-starting personality - you are highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented.
  • You communicate with honesty and kindness and can build trusting relationships.
  • You have exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) skills.
  • High proficiency with standard MS applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • A valid driver’s license, comfortable flying/driving long distances
  • Occasionally requires substantial physical effort and working in awkward positions

The Intern will join our Global Applied Technology and Innovation team, which leads front-end innovation in processing technologies and ingredient solutions. Our work explores new methods, emerging technologies, and novel ingredient applications to shape the future of potato-based products and other food innovations for retail and foodservice markets.

Compensation Package: $23.00-$26.00 CAD hourly wage equivalent, paid salary. 

 

The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education and training, and other organizational needs.
