About the role.
This is an exciting high impact role in Global Innovation Engineering that will work closely with leadership to develop and execute innovative robotics projects in North America. The role will interface closely with Global and regional engineering & manufacturing organizations to design, develop and implement innovative robotic, sensing, AI and other process optimization technologies across North America. Additionally, this role will assist in developing and owning the global innovative robotic and automation engineering design standards. A key member of the Global Innovation Engineering Team, this role provides the opportunity to interface and influence across the company and senior leadership. This role is based in Oakbrook Terrace, IL, Appleton, WI, Plover, WI or at one of our other sites in the US.
What you’ll be doing.
• Key Project Leadership & Execution: Lead the execution of key advanced robotics and line optimization development projects across North America.
• Scope Definition: Collaborate with engineering, project managers, plants, and other stakeholders to define the functional requirements and scope of robotics, sensing, AI and other process optimization technologies projects.
• System Definition: Work with cross-functional teams to define system requirements, specifications, and system architecture.
• Design and Development: Participating in the design and development of various subsystems, including mechanical, electrical, and software components.
• Verification and Validation: Implementing verification and validation plans to ensure systems meet specified requirements and are safe and reliable.
• Prototype Development: Work with regional and global stakeholders including the Robotics Center of Excellence to design and develop robotic, sensing and AI prototypes.
• Project Management: Lead the development of timelines, resources and cost estimates for development and deployment of robotic systems. Manage external partners in the development of robotic and other advanced technology solutions.
• System Integration: Overseeing the integration of subsystems into a cohesive whole, ensuring compatibility and functionality.
• System Testing: Planning, overseeing the execution, and analyzing system-level tests.
• Troubleshooting: Identifying and resolving issues that arise during the development or operation of the system.
• MARS Deployment: Lead the deployment of McCain Advanced Robotics System (MARS) in North America, leading the mapping of robotization opportunities within the McCains NA manufacturing network
• Risk Management: Identifying and mitigating potential risks throughout the system lifecycle.
• Documentation: Creating and maintaining technical documentation for the system.
• Collaboration: Working with other engineers, designers, and stakeholders to achieve project goals.
• Knowledge Base: Explore and maintain knowledge of state-of-the-art and emerging technology trends in robotics and automation.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
What you’ll need to be successful.
• Background in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or Robotics) preferred.
• Minimum 3 Years experience in manufacturing and plant operations
• Minimum 3 Years experience in advanced technology/R&D project implementation and project management
• Experience in systems engineering methodologies preferred
• Experience in robotics and/or automation project execution
• Experience with computer vision and machine learning technologies preferred
• Experience in R&D and/or product development
• Ability to work cross functionally across business departments
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 30% of the time
About the team.
Our Global Innovation Engineering team’s goal is to ‘think big and plan ahead’ by tackling challenging problems that can transform the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of McCain’s manufacturing operations using cutting-edge technologies, including sensing and robotics solutions. The team currently includes four skilled Robotics and Innovation Engineers, and we are looking to add a Global Innovation Robotics Lead to help lead and execute key advanced robotics projects.

Compensation Package: $85,500.00 -$114,000.00 USD annually + bonus eligibility
The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education/training, and other organizational needs.
