Job Description

In every role, McCainers are ambitious, curious, and passionate about creating exceptional work experiences - together. With a customer-first mindset, we make doing business with McCain easy.

The Global Category Lead – Oils is responsible for setting and executing the global strategy for edible oils used across McCain’s product portfolio. This role maximizes global value by developing long-term category strategies, building strong supplier partnerships, and ensuring a resilient, cost-competitive, and sustainable supply base.

While accountable for global strategy, this position also plays a critical hands-on role in supporting North America—McCain’s largest region—through day-to-day execution, supplier performance management, and risk mitigation. The role requires the ability to move seamlessly between global leadership and regional execution while influencing across regions and functions to drive meaningful commercial outcomes.

What you’ll be doing.

  • Develop and own the global oils category strategy to deliver long-term value creation, supply resilience, sustainability, and alignment with business priorities.
  • Identify global sourcing opportunities, scale advantages, operational efficiencies, and innovation pathways across the oils category.
  • Build, manage, and strengthen strategic supplier partnerships across the global oils ecosystem.
  • Lead global negotiations and commercial agreements where centralized scale and value are required.
  • Monitor global market dynamics, cost drivers, regulatory issues, and supply chain risks, translating insights into clear actions for regions.
  • Partner with Commodity Risk Management to align physical procurement activities with hedging and exposure mitigation strategies.
  • Lead North America sourcing activities, including RFPs, bid analysis, negotiations, and contract execution.
  • Manage North America supplier performance, including quality, service, OTIF, and issue escalation with manufacturing plants.
  • Own North America cost management activities, including PPV tracking, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Support North America operations through supplier troubleshooting, shortage management, and cross-functional alignment with Quality, R&D, and Manufacturing.
  • Collaborate with regional buyers across GB&I, EMENA, APACSA, and LATAM to translate global strategy into effective regional execution.
  • Facilitate best-practice sharing, market intelligence exchange, and alignment across regions.

What you’ll need to be successful.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Finance, Agribusiness, or a related field.
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 5–7+ years of procurement, category management, or commodity experience within food, CPG, agribusiness, or edible oils.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing category strategies.
  • Strong supplier management, negotiation, and commercial acumen.
  • Experience working in a global or multi-regional environment preferred.
  • Strong understanding of commodity cost drivers and risk mitigation approaches.
  • Advanced analytical and financial skills with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
  • Ability to manage complex supplier relationships and influence across organizational levels.
  • Comfort operating in a hybrid global–regional model.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to simplify complexity for diverse stakeholders.
  • Organized, proactive, and able to prioritize effectively across competing initiatives.
  • Inclusive, collaborative mindset with a solutions-oriented approach.

About the team.

This role is part of McCain’s global Procurement organization and works closely with regional buying teams across North America, GB&I, EMENA, APACSA, and LATAM.
