About the role.

Reporting to the Research and Technical Lead, the Farm Research Assistant will play a crucial role in advancing our understanding and implementation of innovative agricultural practices on the Farms of the Future Canada. This position supports the Global Agriculture Sustainability team in conducting experiments, gathering data, and ensuring the smooth operation of research activities aimed at developing sustainable farming methods for the future.

 

What you ll be doing.

  • Assist in the setup, maintenance, and monitoring of experimental plots, including meticulous documentation of key farming operations across research trials.
  • Collect and record data accurately and efficiently during field trials, ensuring data integrity and adherence to research protocols.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of research protocols, standard operating procedures, and data management systems.
  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues, identify solutions, and optimize workflows to maximize research efficiency and productivity.
  • Assist in the preparation of research reports, presentations, and publications by organizing data, summarizing findings, and contributing to writing efforts.
  • Maintain equipment, supplies, and facilities used in research activities, including inventory management, calibration, and routine maintenance

 

What you ll need to be successful.

  • Bachelor s degree in agriculture, environmental science, biology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience in agricultural research.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment, communicate clearly, and follow instructions accurately.
  • Experience with basic agricultural techniques, preferably in a research or farm setting.
  • Proficiency in basic laboratory techniques, including sample preparation, analysis, and data recording.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask in a fast-paced research environment.

Compensation Package: $25.83 - $26.96 CAD hourly

 

The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education/training, and other organizational needs.
