About the role.

The broad objective of the Environmental Control Supervisor is to effectively manage and implement policies and programs as they relate to Environmental Compliance for McCain Foods USA.  The Environmental Control Supervisor will adopt an atmosphere of strict environmental compliance with all applicable environmental permits and regulations.  

  

Key areas of focus will include Environmental Management System ownership, efficient operation of equipment, maintenance planning, and employee relations. Under the direction of the Plant Engineer, you will support the plant strategy through the SQCDPE framework (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, People and Environment) as we work towards continuous improvement throughout the facility. Plans, organizes, and directs the operation, maintenance modifications, and improvement for the water and wastewater treatment plant. This includes all planning and monitoring required for the Covered Anaerobic Lagoon, Secondary Treatment and Biogas Operation. 

  

What you’ll be doing. 

  • Oversight of wastewater and environmental operations, i.e. industrial wastewater system,  sludging system, crop management, mud systems, monitor and manage water supply wells. 

  • Directly supervise employees on the wastewater and environmental. 

  • Develop and communicate wastewater and environmental plans and procedures to ensure full facility operations and compliance and to meet regulatory obligations.

  • Responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance with all wastewater, water supply, solid waste, air, and hazardous waste permits. 

  • Analyze permitting requirements and prepare environmental permit applications.

  • Assists in the preparation of specifications for major equipment and material purchases. 

  • Manage ISO 14001:2015 Environmental EMS Program and continuous improvement measures

  • in resources efficient operations (energy, water, carbon, landfill, etc.) 

  • Develop, implement, and report the environmental objectives for the site 

  • Lead internal and external auditing activities- Includes utilizing Intelex to track action items

  • Plans, organizes and directs the operation, maintenance modification, and improvement for the water and wastewater treatment plant. 

  • Manage operational process control procedures and institutes changes when necessary to achieve full compliance with all local, state, and federal regulatory agencies- air, water quality and solids disposal requirements. 

  • Maintains accurate operational records and prepares reports required by Management, Corporate, Global, and all regulatory agencies. 

  • Administers and monitors operational budgets to attain financial objectives. 

  

What you’ll need to be successful. 

  • Education: Engineering, environmental or equivalent degree and/or past experience. 

  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in operational supervisory position.  A thorough understanding of the technical aspects of the facility and demonstrated interpersonal relations and personnel management skills.

Under the direction of the Plant Engineer the Environmental Supervisor will have a total team of 11 direct reports.

Compensation Package: $77,968.80 - $85,000 USD annually + bonus eligibility 

  

The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education/training, and other organizational needs.
