    Job Description
     
    About the role.
     
    This position will include automation, controls systems design, PLC/SCADA programming, simulation, testing and start -up commissioning. This role typically works Monday to Friday dayshift but may have to come in on evenings or weekends if there is an issue.
     
    The Electrical Programmer will develop advanced PLC logic and programming with any or all of the following software vendors: Allen Bradley and any other software manufacturers that may be utilized in the plant. In addition, they will do HMI/SCADA programming and configuration of any of the following software vendors: Rockwell FactoryTalk or comparable graphics package that maybe utilized in the plant.
     
    What you’ll be doing.
       - Accomplishes software requirements by developing and maintaining applications and databases.
- Directs and assists in all programming projects (control logic, HMI screens, etc).  Assists with on-site start-up and troubleshooting, as needed. 
- Training, development, and mentoring members of the Technicians to enhance programming capabilities within the electrical department.
- Arrange project requirements in programming sequence by analyzing requirements; preparing a work flow chart and diagram.
- Assist department manager/supervisor in the development of programming standards and library functions. 
- Assist electrical supervisor in repair, maintenance programs and the training.
- Assists in development and creation of system operation manuals and training material based on project deliverables.
- Assists with the selection, ordering and delivery of software and hardware for the assigned projects.
- Assumes a primary role in the commissioning and testing of all systems defined under our scope of work. Validates complete system functionality and troubleshoots issues with contractors and clients to ensure proper operation.
- Creates and modifies computer programs by converting project requirements into code
- Develop or acquire test data, testing and debugging to produce required results and revising the programs.
- Develop specifications for communication systems, network, software, and hardware configurations.
- Develops programming estimates to support cost estimation for quoting and sales initiatives.
- Operate powered industrial lifts.
 
What you’ll need to be successful.
       - High school diploma or general education degree (GED). 
- Two year degree in industrial controls/instrumentation or electrical constructions and maintenance or a degree in the electrical field.  May consider a combination of education and experience in a manufacturing environment maintaining and/or programming production related machinery.
- Minimum of 6 months experience in an E&I grade level I role for McCain employees, or 3-5 years of related experience within an industrial setting for external candidates.
- Preference will be given to candidates with 3 years of experience in PLC programming.
- On site Level advancement testing.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to complete and train technicians to set up computers for PLC logic or graphic interface programming installing the correct software and licensing as needed. 
- Experience working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
- Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new software and technologies.
- Strong technical and analytical proficiency with the ability to multi-task effectively and thrive in a team environment.
