McCain has embarked on a digital transformation journey. In the past 3-5 years, global digital systems have been implemented and enabled to capture data from our growers and their fields.  As part of this transformation, we are elevating the way that we use digital tools & data to drive value and enhance decision-making across our global agriculture business. Our key objective is to transform data into actionable insights and effective action plans. 

  

McCain is an international company with a world-wide presence, with sourcing taking place in multiple key regions such as North America, South America, Europe, India, Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa. Within agriculture, there are some regional specificities and nuances which make the work more challenging.  The Business Data Analyst will focus on the McCain Grower Relationship Management (GRM) and Sourcing activity pillar, working closely with our internal regional teams and their grower partners. 

  

The Business Data Analyst will play a key role in integrating a data perspective into our agriculture business processes to drive sustainable raw supply, cultivate grower relationships, and enhance sustainability and re-generative practices. This role will be key to transforming our agriculture business to be a data-led business around the world. You will work with cross-functional and regional teams, as well as our technology team to support the digital transformation roadmap. This includes defining business requirements, building operational metrics, developing reports, and designing processes that leverage data for actionable insights; ensuring decision-makers in Grower Relationship and Sourcing can make informed, data-driven decisions. 

  

What you’ll be doing. 

  • Define the key process indicators to drive improvement actions that are aligned with McCain’s Agriculture efficiency goals and map the data points required to measure performance 

  • Act as the global data lead for GRM to ensure consistency and standardized data across regions and maintain the GRM business data model to reflect operational needs. 

  • Serve as a data subject-matter expert on GRM & sourcing business processes. 

  • Collaborate with global technology and analytics teams to identify data sources and ensure seamless access when digital systems are implemented. In regions where systems are not yet in place, work with local teams to define practical business methods for tracking the required data points. 

  • Propose with the Global Product Manager in charge of this pillar, the analytics and reporting strategy through PowerBI dashboards and standard reporting tools. 

  • Translate stakeholder needs into clear business requirements to guide analytics development, dashboard design, and data sourcing. 

  • Design wireframes and oversee the development of intuitive, user-friendly operational dashboards that align with business requirements and drive continuous improvement and user adoption. 

  • Support user training and adoption of reporting tools. 

  • Build regional business relationships to identify value-driven analytics. 

  • Distill data to share actionable operational insights with global and regional Ag stakeholders, including GRM agriculture scorecards. Be prepared to improve data literacy across all regions.  

  • Work with the Data Governance team to identify and support resolving data quality issues at the source and in a timely manner. 

  • Lead medium-scale data-driven projects, in its scope of responsibility, closely collaborating with the technology, analytics and regional teams. 

  

What you’ll need to be successful. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Agriculture, Data & Analytics, or a related field. Experience working with data to support business analysis, decision-making, or agricultural operations is preferred. 

  • Familiarity with the food/agriculture industry is a plus, as this can help in understanding specific business requirements and processes. 

  • Experience working in a regional (multi-country) or global role. 

  • Data Analysis: Experience with data analysis, business data modeling, and aware of data best practices to identify areas of opportunity. 

  • Data Visualization Tools: Familiarity with Power BI or similar data visualization tools to support reporting and business insights; hands-on experience is a plus. 

  • Project Management: Experience in project management methodologies such as Agile or Scrum.  

  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with stakeholders at all levels. Comfortable working with business stakeholders across a range of data and analytics experience. 

  • Business Requirements: Experience in gathering and documenting business requirements through stakeholder interviews and able to translate complex technical concepts into business language and user stories. 

  • Implementation Support: Collaborate with cross-functional and delivery teams to ensure data mapping and dashboard development align with business needs, user expectations, and project goals. 

  • Strong problem-solving abilities and analytical thinking to identify business needs and propose effective solutions. 

  • Accountable and have a “get things done” attitude. This role is about supporting change, finding solutions and getting your business leaders the data they need to make informed decisions.

Compensation Package: $58,800.00 - $78,500.00 . CAD annually + Bonus Eligibility  

  

The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education and training, and other organizational needs.
