Matsqui Ag-Repair, located in Abbotsford, BC, is looking to add a heavy-duty technician to our growing service department. 

We are the authorized dealer for JCB Agriculture, SILOKING, McCormick, and TYM Tractors, as well as the authorized Western Canada distributor for McHale. This is an opportunity for an ambitious individual to join an established dealership with plenty of growth opportunities. 

Who We Are:
Matsqui Ag-Repair Ltd is a family-owned and operated farm equipment dealership serving the Fraser Valley since 1989. We are currently the authorized dealership for: JCB Agriculture, McHale, Kuhn, TYM , McCormick ,and Siloking.

The Role:

Heavy-duty equipment mechanics repair, troubleshoot, adjust, overhaul and maintain mobile heavy-duty equipment used in construction, transportation, forestry, mining, oil and gas, material handling, landscaping, land clearing, farming and similar activities. They are employed by companies which own and operate heavy equipment, and by heavy equipment dealers, rental and service establishments, railway transport companies and urban transit systems. Apprentices are also included in this unit group.

Responsibilities:

• Inspect, diagnose, and repair various types of heavy equipment
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication
• Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues
• Assemble and disassemble heavy equipment components
• Use hand tools to dig into equipment for repairs
• Conduct thorough testing to ensure proper functionality after repairs
• Check bulldozers, cranes, graders and other heavy construction, agricultural, logging and mining equipment for proper performance and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
• Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturers' specifications
• Clean, lubricate and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment
• Service attachments and working tools such as harvesting and tillage equipment, blades, ploughs, winches and side booms
• May perform repair work on heavy trucks
• May attach components and adjust new farm equipment.
• Instruct apprentices
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
• Keep maintenance reports and documentation
• Test repaired equipment for proper performance and to ensure that work meets manufacturer's specifications
• Perform repair work on heavy trucks
• Verify and repair emission control systems
• Perform other routine maintenance
• Troubleshoot and inspect equipment to detect faults and malfunctions
• Order parts and maintain inventory
• Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts

Required Skills/Experience:

• Previous experience as a mechanic, preferably in a dealership setting
• Red Seal as a Heavy Duty Technician
• Ability to perform heavy lifting as required in the repair process
• Strong mechanical knowledge of industrial equipment
• Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing heavy machinery/farm equipment
• Familiarity with electrical systems in heavy equipment
• Experience working with hand tools specific to heavy machinery repairs
• Ability to dig into equipment for maintenance purposes
