The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Manager, Risk Management, the Risk Management Analyst will support the operating units in identifying their financial risk exposures, mitigating these risks through financial markets (foreign exchange, commodity and interest rate derivatives), reporting on these risk management activities, and analyzing insurance solutions. This individual also supports month-end closing procedures and performs market analysis that drive key investment and capital market decisions.
 

The Risk Management team is part of integrated Treasury & Risk Management team, managed by the Treasurer and works with these teams on shared initiatives.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Work with operating units to monitor the Company's risk exposures and assist in the implementation of new hedging strategies
  • Report on risk management activities, including regular updates to Senior Management and the Board of Directors
  • Monitor currency, interest rate, and commodity markets to provide insights and identify hedging opportunities
  • Assist the hedge accounting programs implementation
  • Complete month end and quarter end closing procedures
  • Assist the risk management team with ad-hoc requests
  • Support the management of the investment portfolio for the Maple Leaf Centre for Action on Food Security
  • Lead the preparation of submission for annual insurance renewal and support on other insurance issues

  • You have a high attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • You are adaptable and responsive in a changing environment
  • Degree in finance, business, accounting, or other quantitatively based degree. Master's degree an asset
  • 2 - 4 years of experience working in Treasury, Risk Analysis, with derivatives, or in another quantitative and detail-oriented field
  • Hold or have made progress towards a professional designation (CPA, CFA, and FRM)
  • Strong Excel and financial modeling skills (VBA experience is an asset)
  • Experience using Bloomberg and treasury management systems
  • Strong mathematical skills and an ability to grasp accounting concepts
