The Opportunity:

The individual is responsible for all capital and special expense projects in addition to managing subordinates within the engineering department.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Authorize and responsibility for spending on all approved projects.
  • Project management coordinated the work of contractors with in-house staff and production.
  • Budget monitoring and control of all ongoing projects. Assist in developing annual capital and special expense budget.
  • Approve all project related expenses.
  • Assess and improve the performance of subordinates.
  • Assist with the workload of subordinates.
  • Identifying and dissecting Root Causes Analysis in order to provide recommendations to the Maintenance Manager.
  • Ability to work with Six Sigma to improve operational effectiveness while providing and supporting recommendations, with the overall goal of turning recommendations into a capital improvement.
  • Reports to Maintenance Manager and liaises with Plant Manager.
  • Special projects and other duties as assigned.

 

What You ll Bring:

  • Previous experience in project management would be beneficial if this candidate has a PMP.
  • An Engineering degree is preferred although education in a related technical field is beneficial.
  • Formal training is required in AutoCAD
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office applications, particularly Project, Excel, and Word.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of employees, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multi-tasking between projects.
  • Ability to strive for accuracy and accountability.
  • Technical writing skills are an asset. 
  • Background in continuous improvement, root cause analysis and/or reliability engineering would be an asset.
