The Opportunity:

The Material Supply Specialist reports to the Production and Materials Manager and will be responsible for ordering and monitoring of supplies to meet production needs.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure availability of in-specification stock to meet production demands across all plant SKUs
  • Work collaboratively with corporate purchasing, finance and supply chain teams to analyze quotations and audit prices of standard and non-standard materials.
  • Work with logistics manager and designated suppliers to implement cost reduction proposals, product standardization, and promotion of best practices
  • Serve as the main point of contact between vendors and the plant. Directly work with vendor to ensure timely order delivery to prevent material shortages
  • Utilize Vendor Contract Requirement (VCR) report to track and evaluate ingredient and packaging demand and inventory levels weekly
  • Attend bi-weekly Project updates and weekly commercial execution meetings, provide updates as they relate to the arrival of any new packaging or ingredients and advise of any potential impacts to meeting target run dates
  • Work collaboratively with logistics, production, quality assurance, maintenance, health and safety, finance, accounts payable, corporate purchasing, commercial execution, marketing, supply chain, sister plants and master data systems teams to deliver exceptional service and ensure smooth plant operation and >97% fill-rate
  • Maintain positive and professional relationships with all vendors, carriers and sister plants
  • Complete and track all engineering change records as assigned, cross-reference against other projects and runout dates as necessary to ensure smooth transition to new materials and minimal write-offs of rationalized components
  • Inventory, track and maintain records for on-site third-party storage on behalf of the Canning plant
  • Plan and execute urgent pickups through Canada Cartage, complete pickups directly from vendors if possible and safe to do
  • Complete product change communication forms in advance of new or updated ingredients and packaging arriving to the plant, provide to logistics and quality teams
  • Work with AP to resolve invoicing issues
  • Interact with shipping/receiving, planning and production to ensure the daily requirements for production are met
  • Investigate discrepancies in inventory and drive continuous improvement
  • Communicate with QA about material issues, and execute the return goods process with vendors
  • Ensure the receiving on PO s is completed accurately, will investigate any discrepancies through open PO reporting

 

What You ll Bring:

  • University bachelor s education with 3 5 years experience in materials planning and / or operations
  • Advanced Working knowledge of SAP & Ariba
  • Advanced skills in MS Office
  • Excellent time management, multi-tasking and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and analytical skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to interact with all levels of management
