The Opportunity:

 

The FSQA Compliance Auditor at the Courtneypark facility is responsible for ensuring the effective functioning of the food safety programs through task review, verification, and monitoring activities, as well as program review and auditing functions. The incumbent will lead & engage cross functional teams during audit completion and development of corrective action plans for regulatory and internal non-compliance findings.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Verifies HACCP and Food Safety programs and onsite practices for compliance against regulatory (CFIA, Health Canada, USDA, FDA, etc.), third-party (GFSI) standards and Internal programs. 
  • Execute plants Internal audit and claim verification programs.
  • Prepare and co-lead Maple Leaf internal audit.
  • Influence others to enable immediate corrective actions completion. 
  • Holding Stakeholders responsible for their Quality Notification Tasks and will be responsible for tracking and trending. 
  • Liaises with the Area Leaders to maintain document control, tracking and to ensure compliance. 
  • Develops and implements training programs for hourly employees. 
  • Assess effectiveness of permanent corrective/preventative actions to prevent a recurrence. 
  • Assist with investigation of complaints, develop, and submit responses for customer complaints and consumer.
  • Assist with Non-Compliance Reports (Deviations) and in-house disposition of materials placed On Hold including completing Risk Assessments to determine product disposition.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating current HACCP system, BRC and Food Safety and Quality programs and/or SOPs.
  • Assist in organizing the electronic Document Management System by revising SOPs and forms, updating version control, and publishing.  
  • Prepares and delivers training material to hourly and salaried personnel as required. 
  • Develop and provide employee interactive training material to support ongoing reductions in internal non-conformances. 
  • Prepares for and participates in internal and third-party audits where required. 
  • Shall demonstrate full commitment to the implementation of the requirements of the Global Standard for Food Safety and to processes which facilitate continual improvement of food safety and quality management. 
  • Functions as a back up to the HACCP Team Leader for Foreign Material Meetings and/or as required. 
  • Other duties as assigned.  

 

What You ll Bring:

  • Bachelor of Science or Diploma in Food Safety/Science program or equivalent experience
  • Understanding of Sanitation, HACCP, CCP s and GMP s
  • Internal audit experience, formal training, or certification is preferred.
  • 3 - 5 years experience in the food industry preferred
  • Strong communication skills written & verbal in English.
  • Ability to work effectively on a cross functional leadership team.
  • Experience thriving in an ever-changing, fast-paced environment.
