The Opportunity:

 

The Manager, External Financial Reporting, will report to our Assistant Controller and oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements and management s discussion and analysis, ensuring compliance with IFRS and other regulatory requirements. This role involves collaborating with various departments to gather financial data, preparing reports for senior management and stakeholders, and leading a team of two financial analysts.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Oversee the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements in accordance with IFRS.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Coordinate and manage the annual audit process with external auditors.
  • Analyze financial data and provide insights to senior management.
  • Lead and mentor a team of Financial Analysts, providing guidance and support.
  • Collaborate with other departments to gather and verify financial information.
  • Prepare and present financial reports to the board of directors and other stakeholders.
  • Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and reporting standards.
  • Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure the integrity of financial data.

 

What You ll Bring:

  • CPA designation or equivalent.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial reporting, preferably in a public company.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and Canadian financial regulations.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven leadership and team management abilities.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Alignment with company values.
  • Excellent analysis skills and detail-oriented.
  • Strong business acumen and critical thinking.
  • Ability to communicate concisely both verbally & in writing.
  • Ability to manage time, set priorities, and make decisions under pressure.
  • Able to function both independently and in a team environment.

 

Required Skills and Knowledge:

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • SAP experience an asset.
  • Excellent analysis skills and detail-oriented.
  • Strong business acumen and critical thinking.
  • Ability to communicate concisely both verbally & in writing.
  • Ability to manage time, set priorities, and make decisions under pressure.
  • Able to function both independently and in a team environment.
  • Workiva experience an asset, particularly for financial reporting and regulatory filings.
