The Opportunity:

 

The Alberta Broiler Sales Manager is responsible for the overall management of the Alberta Technical Service Team.  This position will also implement policy decisions as well as short and long-term strategy decisions.  This role will be the manager of the Technical Service Supervisor and work with the National Planning & Procurement Manager, Procurement Planning Analyst, Breeder Service Technician, Animal Care Team and Vet Services and FSQA Manager.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Responsible for the leading Technical Service team by working with breeder team, hatchery, broiler producers and plants to ensure the highest quality birds are placed, grown and shipped from farm to plant.
  • Responsible for the management of the technical team towards driving for the highest quality chick quality and working with produces on best practices for on farm brooder management.
  • Responsible for the management of all analysis and forward-thinking continuous improvement efforts for the technical service team, focused on improving producer and plant performance.
  • Responsible for meeting the company, producer, government, and CFIA protocols required to support our differentiated product initiatives ex. Raised without Antibiotic Program.
  • Responsible for maintaining our processing market share in Alberta.
  • Responsible for Broiler Producer Relations and Retention.  
  • Responsible for claims resolution with broiler producers.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all lease kgs are utilized by working with producers to maximize barn space and scheduling opportunities.
  • Strong requirement to build strong alliances with operations (hatchery and plant), feed partners and our producers.
  • Recommend and implement operating policy/strategy along with the annual operating budget requirements.
  • Key liaison between internal and external stakeholders eg. Producers , operations, optimization, marketing, sales, CFO, feed partners
  • Responsible for the muscle building and development of a strong and cohesive Alberta Technical team.
  • Demonstration and commitment to the Maple Leaf s Leadership Edge Values.
  • Using a Six Sigma approach to drive forward continuous improvement opportunities.

 

What You ll Bring:

  • Post-secondary education or University Degree in Agriculture, Business, Science or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • Minimum 2 to 5 years experience in managing people.
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to the Maple Leaf s Leadership Edge Values.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Working knowledge of the Poultry Industry would be a definite asset.
  • An ability to work independently; be self-motivated and enthusiastic.
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Strong analytical, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Supervisory experience that illustrates a team management style approach.
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Willingness to attend, participate and present at various Industry functions and activities, both outside and within the Company.
  • High level of computer competency including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
