Job Type: Full Time

Job Description:
Magnus Kahl Seeds is a privately-owned Australian company with a strong presence both locally and in international markets. We specialise in the breeding, production, and marketing of premium onion and shallot genetics — and we're growing.

We’re looking for a dedicated Onion Bulb Production Manager to join our close-knit and highly motivated team. This is a hands-on, dynamic role ideal for someone with practical farming experience who thrives in a collaborative environment and wants to play a vital role in the production of high-quality seed bulbs.

What You’ll Be Doing
As the Onion Bulb Production Manager, you will lead and support the operational side of our seed bulb and breeding nursery programs. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Managing all field operations for onion and shallot seed bulb production, starting at 10 acres, and building up to potentially 40 acres — including soil preparation, sowing, spraying, fertilising, irrigating, and harvesting.
  • Coordinating bulb grading activities (commercial and parent lines) across our South Australian and Merbein (Victoria) sites, with support from the site manager and selection team.
  • Supporting the seed production team in reaching key production targets.
  • Assisting the site manager with cleaning and processing commercial and parent seed lines.

What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone who’s not afraid to roll up their sleeves and is passionate about quality crop production. Ideally, you’ll bring:
  • Experience in commercial onion production (preferred)
  • A current driver’s license
  • Forklift license (preferred)
  • ChemCert or Farm Chemical Users Permit (preferred)
  • Experience operating tractors, boom sprayers, and general farm equipment
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset and positive attitude
  • Excellent time management and basic computer literacy
  • Willingness to travel interstate when required

Additional Information
Applicants must have a current Australian working visa or be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
