The Assistant Logistics and Grain Coordinator, under the direction of the Operations Manager, is primarily responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient scheduling and delivery functions for the company’s Trucking Division for fertilizer and grain. The incumbent will also be required to assist drivers with deliveries as needed. Along with taking care of logistics, the incumbent will provide support in the buying and selling of grains and evaluate the foreign and domestic grain supplies based on product quality and price.
Role and Responsibilities
- Maintain and execute the daily dispatch plan to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and timeliness of outbound load execution.
- Direct the pickup and delivery activities of drivers
- Provide accurate directions for pickup and delivery services
- Review weigh slips ensuring accuracy and complete information is provided
- Track shipments from pickup to delivery for accurate up to date information
- Receive and process transportation requirement requests from customers
- Source and sell commodities directly to Farm and Trade Accounts
- Set up new accounts in accordance with MacEwen Agricentre’s credit policies and monitor such accounts in order to maintain credit terms
- Work closely with the Senior Merchandiser in order to market current products that MacEwen Agricentre currently handles, as well as develop new products/opportunities for resale
- Keep up to date with grain trends and market conditions to ensure competitiveness
- Administer, promote and adhere to purchase, sale and production contracts, ensuring compliance with all related policies and processes
- Manage contracts from the onset of shipping up to receiving proper payments within the contract terms
- Work closely with Supply Chain and Logistics groups to ensure contracts are properly executed
- Comply with all company Health and Safety policies and wear personal protective equipment as approved
Required Education and Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Post-secondary education in agriculture, business, economics, sales and/or marketing or related degree would be considered an asset
- Valid Class G license with a clean driver’s abstract
- Class AZ License would be an asset
- Clean Background check
- Bilingual in French and English is required
