Overview:

 

Loblaw Real Estate Finance proudly supports the Real Estate Operations group at one of Canada s largest retailers. Reporting into the Sr. Manager, the Sr. Financial Analyst will support the administration of the lease accounting process at Loblaw, liaise with business partners to ensure the completeness and accuracy of lease reporting, and assist with project related work.

 

Key Responsibilities and Job Duties:

 

  • Manage the preparation of:
  • Periodic and quarterly journal entries, including standard leasing entries, sublease accounting, various elimination entries, and failed sale accounting;
  • Weekly lease changes report which aggregates and justifies lease changes identified through our lease management system;
  • Periodic balance sheet analysis, including an enterprise view roll of the ROU and Lease Liability; and
  • Periodic and quarterly work to ensure the completeness and accuracy of reporting.
  • Provide support in preparing the quarterly lease term assessment
  • Provide support in preparing the annual note disclosures included in the external financial statements.
  • Liaise with various stakeholders throughout the business, including, but not limited to, Real Estate Operations, External Financial Reporting, George Weston Limited, and Internal Controls Compliance.
  • Assist with the preparation of periodic forecast, annual budget and 3-year plan.
  • Facilitate quarterly and annual audit work by preparing PBC submissions and responding to audit queries.
  • Perform sample testing to assess the accuracy and completeness of key ESG metrics, ensuring data integrity and reliability.
  • Continually look for process improvements to promote control and automation.
  • Participate in special projects as assigned.

 

Qualifications and Competencies:

 

Post-Secondary degree in finance or related field.

 

1-3 years relevant work experience.

 

Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation, or working towards the designation.

 

Strong knowledge of accounting and IFRS 16 is an asset.

 

Results oriented consistently delivers on time at a high quality.

 

Team player with excellent planning and prioritization skills.

 

Strong problem solving, analytical skills, and attention to detail; can see the big picture in a complex environment, and possess the tenacity to find solutions.

 

Excellent communication and presentation skills, with ability to communicate complex issues clearly and effectively.

 

Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
