The Senior Regulatory Affairs Specialist is a key collaborator in the product development process. A strong regulatory background is required, as well as thorough knowledge and understanding of Health Canada and Canadian Food Inspection Agency Acts, Regulations, and Guidance.

 

In this role you will ensure consistent and compliant execution of labelling and marketing reviews, while applying your collaboration skills to work with cross-functional teams to bring products to life!

 

Accountabilities:

  • Develops technical label copy, evaluates packaging, product formulations and claims documentation to ensure the compliant labeling of products against the appropriate regulations, guidelines, internal labeling standards & policies. Reviews and approves artwork.
  • Supports in the review of preliminary formulations/concepts to provide direction and strategy for new and existing products.
  • Provides regulatory guidance to cross functional teams in response to regulatory changes, formula updates, innovation or customer requests
  • Reviews marketing campaigns to ensure compliance with appropriate regulations and internal policies.
  • Resolves regulatory issues raised internally, or by government agencies. Initiate corrective action as required.
  • Remains current on all regulations as well as, control brands labelling standards & policies. Attends knowledge/training seminars as required.
  • Supports Regulatory Senior Management to review new or proposed legislation and provides perspective on impact to the business.
  • Supports the development of internal labeling standards, policies and guidance documents. Organize and manage documentation according to established company procedures.
  • Additional projects and/or responsibilities as required.

 

Role Requirements

  • Bachelors in Nutrition, Food Science, or related scientific program
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience with food product labelling
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Canadian Food & Drugs Act and Regulations and other consumer packaging regulations
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be highly organized with a strong focus on detail and accuracy
  • Creative problem solver with a strong work ethic
  • Highly organized, able to prioritize multiple projects effectively and work independently in a fast-paced environment
