Manage and lead the development and implementation of key strategic initiatives for Home, Entertainment, Health, and Beauty (HEHB) departments by partnering with Category, Operations, Promo, and Capital teams within the Loblaw Companies Super Market Division. Provide methodical assistance to enable the Super Market Division to drive operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve profitability.

 

Note: This role will be located at the Loblaw head office in Brampton but may require travel to the downtown office (2 Fraser Avenue, Toronto, Ontario) from time to time.

 

What You'll Do:

 

Strategy Development

  • Act as a strategic thought guide, providing data-driven insights and identifying opportunities to drive sales, share, and profit growth.
  • Assist in the development of category-specific strategies and associated tactics that improve our competitive position and accelerate financial performance.
  • Oversee the category and planogram review process for HEHB, partnering with Category and Control Brand teams to conduct in-depth evaluations focused on identifying space and assortment optimization opportunities, and driving strong governance to ensure on time execution.

 

Strategic Initiative Support

  • Track and evaluate market share results to evaluate category strategies, determine drivers of outperformance, and diagnose underperformance at the banner and category levels.
  • Develop tangible metrics to measure success of strategic initiatives ensuring performance is tracking towards targets and translating results into actionable, strategic next steps.
  • Create reports and conduct large data set examinations surrounding pilot program results; engage data-driven insights and financial impact with Category and Senior Management.
  • Design and develop program/project presentations to key executive stakeholders within the business.

 

Quarterly and Annual Planning

  • Assist in executing key initiatives from the Division s annual plan, guiding insights and strategy development in conjunction with internal stakeholders.
  • Partner with Category teams to ensure category strategies are developed to support divisional annual plan.

 

What You'll Need:

  • Minimum 4 years previous work experience required. Retail, merchandising, management consulting, and/or consumer goods experience strongly preferred.
  • Post-secondary undergraduate (finance, economics, commerce, engineering) required.
  • Retail Operations experience and a knowledge of the LCL Enterprise, including support functions, strongly preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, comfortable presenting to a room of senior executives.
  • Knowledge of Loblaw systems, data sources, and metrics is an asset.
  • Comfortable with data insights and the ability to derive actionable insights is required.
  • Experience with analytical tools, such as Python, SAS, R, SQL, PowerBI, would be an asset.
  • Detail oriented and strong time management skills.
  • Autonomous problem solving, critical thinking, and resourcefulness.
  • An innate sense of curiosity and willingness to learn.
