The Director, Responsible Sourcing is a key contributor to the Strategy, Supplier Engagement, & Responsible Sourcing Team as part of the Sourcing Division within Loblaw. The successful candidate will provide strategic and executional support to the VP of Strategy, Supplier Engagement & Responsible Sourcing and the Enterprise more broadly, establishing governance and supporting the execution and delivery of strategic programs and initiatives to deliver our ambitious organizational commitments to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG). The Director will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders to bring about positive environmental and social impact both towards current commitments as well as in shaping their next evolution.  Responsible sourcing of inputs and ingredients is a key strategic pillar of the Sourcing Team’s Strategic Framework and includes commitments to the sourcing of commodities such as Palm Oil, Cocoa, Seafood, Cotton, Animal Welfare, and Ethical Sourcing. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Program Governance, Project Management, & Compliance  
  • Establish and maintain robust governance frameworks for all responsible sourcing commitments, including regular reporting and performance measurement. 
  • Ensure compliance with relevant national and international regulations, industry standards, and internal policies related to responsible sourcing. 
  • Develop and implement due diligence processes to assess and mitigate risks within the supply chain, including human rights, labor practices, and environmental impact. 
  • Manage execution of multi-stakeholder programs to implement responsible sourcing standards 

 

Supplier Engagement & Communication

  • Develop and implement supplier assessment programs, including audits and performance reviews, to ensure adherence to our standards. 
  • Provide guidance and support to suppliers on best practices in responsible sourcing 
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communications: 
  • Cultivate strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, identifying opportunities for collaboration and driving positive impact. 
  • Develop and execute compelling communication plans that effectively engage stakeholders and build brand ambassadorship for Loblaw's sustainability initiatives. 

 

Qualifications: 

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in responsible sourcing, sustainability, social responsibility, or ESG, preferably within a corporate setting. 
  • Leadership presents and ability to implement an effective governance model along with strong program / project management experience  
  • Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, effectively manage multiple priorities, and deliver results. 
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, with a knack for building consensus and navigating complex stakeholder dynamics. 
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities, demonstrating creativity and tact in challenging situations. 
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and draw meaningful insights. 
  • Exceptional attention to detail, highly organized, and proactive approach to work. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills / ability to convey complex information clearly
