Location: Camden, Alabama

Employment Type: Full-Time, Year-Round

About the Property

Legacy Whitetail Preserve is a premier commercial hunting operation located in Camden, Alabama. The property includes both high-fence and low-fence (free range) hunting areas and spans approximately two thousand acres. We specialize in whitetail deer and outdoor hospitality, offering guests an exceptional hunting experience rooted in conservation, service, and operational excellence.

 

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Ranch Manager to lead all aspects of ranch operations year-round. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for land and wildlife management, client experience, personnel supervision, and daily operations of our commercial hunting preserve.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Wildlife & Habitat Management

  • Oversee year-round deer habitat management and feeding programs.
  • Maintain and monitor game cameras, blinds, feeders, and water sources.
  • Coordinate harvest strategies to maintain herd health and trophy quality.
  • Implement predator control and habitat improvement practices.

 

Ranch & Equipment Operations

  • Manage maintenance of ranch infrastructure (roads, fences, buildings).
  • Maintain and operate UTVs, tractors, excavators, dozers, implements, and power tools.
  • Monitor and maintain water systems and power supplies.

 

Personnel & Guest Management

  • Hire, train, and supervise ranch hands and seasonal staff.
  • Provide warm, professional interaction with hunting clients and VIP guests.
  • Coordinate with guides, chefs, and housekeeping to deliver a premium guest experience.

 

Administration

  • Maintain budgets and purchase supplies within cost guidelines.
  • Track harvest data, feed inventory, maintenance logs, and other records.
  • Coordinate with owners regarding capital projects and priorities.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5+ years ranch management or hunting operation experience required.
  • Strong working knowledge of whitetail deer behavior, herd management, and food plots.
  • Demonstrated experience in staff supervision and client service.
  • Proficiency in operating and maintaining heavy equipment and UTVs.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work long hours during hunting season, including weekends.
  • Computer literacy for inventory tracking, scheduling, and reporting.
  • Valid driver's license and clean record; CDL or applicator license a plus.
  • Preference given to candidates with a background in Wildlife Management, Range Science, or Agricultural Operations.
