Job Description: Sourcing & Merchandising Manager

This role is part of our Purina Animal Nutrition business helping our network of local cooperatives, independent dealers and other large retailers serve producers, and animal owners throughout the United States. Through industry -leading R&D and committed partnerships, we innovate the nutrition products and practices that unlock the full potential of every animal for a healthier, more productive life.

The Sourcing & Merchandising Manager is responsible for the purchasing, positioning and execution of $320-600 MM in spend annually. This position is a leadership position that oversees several ingredients with direct P&L implications. The Leadership role works cross functionally with all divisions of supply chain, income ops, R&D, sales and marketing. This role requires a strong knowledge of markets, Purina's go to market strategies, negotiation skills and ability to think quickly and react to an ever-changing environment. This individual must have a strong working knowledge markets. Must have an extensive knowledge of S&D's and understand the impact on market dynamics and risk that each pose to the business.

Job Duties:
  • Purchasing, position management, and strong understanding of nutrition
  • Analyze domestic and world S&D's and make recommendations on short and long term positioning for different business strategies
  • Execution and management of macro ingredients to plants
  • Problem solving for ingredient issues, quality, price, working with sales, planning and operations to maximize profitability. Working with R&D and sales to find new lower cost ingredients
  • Leadership and training

Required Experience & Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 10+ years of sourcing experience, agricultural based ingredient experience preferred
  • Understanding of nutrition and how this effect usage and values of commodities; strong knowledge of the markets, S&Ds and understand the impact on market dynamics and risk that each pose to the business

Salary: $107,680 - $161,520

In most cases, candidates offered employment can expect to be hired at a pay rate near the middle of our salary ranges
